OK so I found Dogmeat and instantly loved it. Then later on I found a radscorpion and he killed my dog. Obviously I flipped out on the radscorpion and blew the f**k up. But this leaves me without Dogmeat does he come back?

If you're on the PC, I believe theres a mod to make him return though.

If you have the PC version you can use console commands or a mod to revive him. Also, if you download Broken Steel you can take the Puppies! perk which spawns a dogmeat puppy at vault 101 each time your dog dies.

If you have the PC version, type resurrect 6a772 to bring him back to life. Also, type setessential 6a772 1 to make dogmeat unkillable (he will be knocked out instead of killed). Oh yeah, you open the console by hitting the ~ key.

If Dogmeat dies, Dogmeat dies and that's an end of it.

The only way to get him 'back' in any Fallout game is to revert to a save where your canine friend was still alive. The exception being the Puppies! perk in Broken Steel, which has already been mentioned.

Not to get too sidetracked on things, but a couple questions...

Since I haven't gotten the downloads yet (PS3), I don't know what the Puppies perk is. So, what is it?

Also, has anyone else here had a funny experience where Dogmeat ended up somehow right beside you (especially a highly-inaccessable place) almost instantaneously, despite the fact you left him at home?

I think that perk only works if Dogmeat dies after getting the perk; apparently when SHE dies you find puppies at the entrance of Vault 101.

So unfortunately it seems unlikely you'll be re-united with your canine campanion anytime soon.

I read somewhere that the Puppies! perk works even if Dogmeat died before you downloaded Broken Steel.

Actually, since Broken Steel, Dogmeat levels with the character. I was in front of the lawbringer farm and Dogmeat took on two Deathclaws and nearly won single handed.

You can also equip the wazer wifle on Dogmeat. I don't know he can actually use it, though.
