And here I was, just minding my own business, when suddenly an excuse to spend a grand or so on a brand new gaming PC came floating by. Well, I'm sure it's a sign from the gods of gaming or something...

Seriously, this is amazing! The only way they could top their own mod is if they were to import the cutscenes and story missions from the original SA, but that's pretty much guaranteed to end with a cease&desist from Rockstar (if they're feeling charitable), or an outright lawsuit. I hope they keep on working on this, and I wish Rockstar had thought of this earlier. Let's be honest here: GTA IV was crap, and the episodes didn't really uncrap the previous crap. I would have bought a remake (or better yet, Episodes from SA) in a heartbeat, so long as the cars handled better.

Oh yes, here's something for the modders, assuming they're actually reading this:

Keep up the good work!

I had hoped that the maps would be less, how to say this, squared?

It looks almost exactly like San Andreas did, I had hoped for some rounder edges.

I won't deny that it looks really good, I'd buy GTA IV for a mod like that, but I doubt that they'll ever finish the mod since the majority of super-cool ambitious mods are abandoned about halfway.
Or alternatively, get a cease and desist order.

This looks amazing - I can't wait to see the finished product.

That is, if there is one. Which I sure hope there will be.
You've brought back the Chrono Trigger/Star Fox memories. You've made it to the enemies list Krunk.
Bring it. You can't hurt me anywhere close to the likes of Team Gizka.

And Rockstar are dropping the banhammer in 3...2...1...

Kudos if they do finish it before that happens though.

As much as this seems like a great fucking mod for people who loved San Andreas (me not being one of them, although I did like it, now I have to look at them comments and just shake my head.

Sure. That's some honesty right there.

Totally not an opinion only really supported by this website's community.

The graphics are pretty bad. It's like the original blocky San Andreas map and textures, but with improved shadows, lighting and water effects. Not much point to be honest.

*sigh* Calling the game "good" is also nothing but opinion. You'll find that the majority here dislikes GTA IV, hence calling it "crap" is more in line with the average view of the game.

Read my response again. Try to sigh less.

Thank you.

GTA III has already been put into VC, and there is an entire new city built in VC. There were also plans to put both VC and LC alongside SA, however I've no idea about the status of it.

There is also of course the epicly epic San Andreas Multiplayer [http://www.sa-mp.com/media.php].

I would be pretty confident this will be finished, and that Rockstar wouldn't try to stop it. (If anyone did, it would be Take Two).

Okay... so a bunch of modders have beaten Rockstar to the smart thing to do?
You disappoint me, Rockstar. This is what I have wanted since GTA IV came out.
San Andreas was easily the best GTA game I've played, and I'd buy a remake without a second thought >.>
I'll have to keep an eye on this one. And look into getting GTA IV for PC >.>
Oh yes, this. So this.

I honestly detested GTA4, it was so bland, boring, and blandoring. The visuals literally looked like shit, there were no interesting weapons in the game (they were only upgrades of each other, not even something like a katana), no cool cheats (no insta-spawning tank makes me sad), no interesting places to go (like the secret base), little to no real easter eggs, Nico was a schizo (he's bipolar, I can prove it), the story was a boring pile of trash with cutscenes that were always so disconnected from the actual game......guh, sorry, I just really hated the game. One of the few games I really, truly disliked. I still have no idea how it got 10s everywhere.

BUT, anyway, this mod looks really friggin' cool. Hope they pull through, and as other people have predicted, let's hope that Rockstard doesn't bring the hammer down on those guys. Would love an HD remake of San Andreas with more content.

Eh. San Andreas having the biggest map in any GTA game isn't exactly a point in its favor considering that roughly 40-60% of it was empty countryside and desert. The actual cities were probably on par with every other GTA game.

I also don't understand everyone's obsession with going back to Vice City and San Andreas when they're sick of Liberty City. Obviously the cure to going back to a city we've been in before is to go to other cities we've been to before instead of brand new ones. Sense be damned! I say forget this and forget Vice City. Hopefully Rockstar has a new city for us in GTA V.
