Well, Firefly was the original series and Serenety was made few years after
Fox canned Firefly.

OT: The idea sounds good. To make it work is hard, but fans usually
do quite well when it comes to this kind of stuff.
The hardest thing though will be getting it out without Fox
getting their lawyers involved and everyone involved sued.

For the love of god people nothing good comes from an MMO, especially not one where where character and story are the entire reason they exist, MMO's just can't do that shit.

Turn it into a good single player experience and I'm behind you 100%, but don't go dragging the name into that MMO mud.

Agree with you there. MMOs completely fail at what they set out to do, that is, create a world that feels believable and alive. I'd be interested in a singleplayer RPG, but I don't see this ending well. Damn shame.

WOW. So much fire is being blasted at the show, and not the fact that an MMO is being spawned from it. Firefly is a symbol of what can be done with a little budget. It had all the right qualities for a steady series. TO HELL WITH YOU FOX.

In my heart I wish an MMO wouldn't be made, but if its well done well. Ill eat my own hair.

The show wasn't even all that good to begin with! It doesn't even deserve HALF of the praise it was given. The show sucked then, it sucks now - Let. It. Fucking. Die.

Also - if the game DOES get made, it will suck ass. Why? All fan shit sucks. Also - what will they work with? One lousy season worth of material? The world is NOT fleshed out enough for it, so why even bother with an MMO in the first place?

Firefly fans won't let it die, because 14 episodes (and the later movie) was simply not enough. It had a lot of potential and a very unique universe, and it was canceled not because of poor quality, but because it aired on the wrong station (Fox, rather than Syfy or something more fitting), Fox aired the episodes out of order, on purpose , and its airtime kept changing. This MMO could be good, because it could flesh out the 'verse in ways the original show couldn't do in its 14 episodes. However, it could indeed suck because fans are making it, but Browncoats are devoted, so there won't be any lack in effort. I say, go for it gorrammit!

Fox is the reason the show didn't get to go on, not just because of canceling it, but because when the show was canceled SyFy wanted to buy the show and keep it going. Joss Whedon was in support of it too, of course. Fox said no.

As long as they stay completely clear of trying to include the canon crew of Serenity in the game. Seriously, don't do it, don't touch it, don't even look at it. Nothing will shrink the perception of a universe like having to run into the same nine people everywhere you go.

Give players the chance to play in the Firefly 'verse, rather than forcing them to play with the Firefly crew.

An MMO? Really? Ignoring the lawsuit that is probably already in the works, I don't think a small group with tiny budget can pull off a quality MMO.

Though I love Firefly and would love nothing more than for this project to succeed.

Serenity was the ending of Firefly. It was the way they provided a bit of closure to a show that was canceled too early. WATCH IT.

Fans like this are just asking for it. They will waste months of their lives working on it and then once the inevitable C&D come around they will cry out at the evil corporation's villainy. Plus I can't imagine this coming out as anything but a buggy mess. Big MMOs cost millions to create and it's for a reason.
