I know its kinda late for this but i still wonder. Has anyone here played all the far cry games
(far cry pc, far cry insticts predator, far cry 2) and if so which one do you think was the best?

Personally, i consider the pc far cry one of the greatest games ever, and insticts predator if not as good was also a really great game. As for far cry 2...its absolute crap for me. A really shiny and well made piece of crap with nothing redeemable whatsoever. Bad characters, bad story, horrible pacing and an ending that can make alone in the dark look gold.

(The Wii far cry doesn't count because it was as good as expired toothpaste)

Although there's nothing bad about farcry 2 for me, it didn't fit to the theme of previous games so I didn't like it as much.

I'm probably going to be only one in a few to say this, but: I fucking loved Far Cry 2.

Yes, it had it's flaws: the story and voice acting aren't all that great, it's rather repetitive, and driving from one end of the map to another just for one mission can get tedious at times. In the end, though, the game was extremely fun and extremely immersive, and for me that's all it takes for it to be a good game.

Far cry 2, is the best in the series the immersion Ubisoft managed to capture is unreal! Pick up the other two for shits and giggles though...some of the stuff in them was hilarious!

I have the first FarCry on PC but ive never played it. On the beginning level I couldnt see a thing, was in some kind of ruin I think but couldn't see anything due to some kinds of fog. Has anyone who's played the first game come across anything similar? I really want to play it, but was perplexed by the fog, and just wondered if it was normal?

It's a shame really... Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 came out a week separately.

I was enjoying Far Cry 2 quite a lot, before Fallout 3 arrived in the post...

Fallout 3, in a way, ruined Far Cry 2 for me.
Everything Far Cry 2 tried to do (open world, different factions and missions, random encounters(sort of)) Fallout 3 did better.

Still I'd like to buy Far Cry 2 for hilarity.

I actually quite liked Far Cry 2. Maybe because I hadn't played the others, and wasn't seeing the game through a nostalgia filter.

Agree! I still go back and replay Far Cry PC quite often. Also, the games renders absolutely flawlessly in 3d, so props to Crytek.

Can't agree on the 360 predator game; however, I did have a metric ton of fun in the level editor of that game.

I loved Far Cry 1 for the PC. Its a týpical action game in all aspects, but that didnt make it any less well-made and fun. And the freaky mutants was a nice change of pace from killing humans.

Far Cry 2 was okay. I never finished it since the missions were all so alike. But it did have a great selection of weapons and good combat.

Its not just nostalgia dude. The older game is positively better than the sequel. Why don't you download it and see why youself. There has to be a ton of torrents for far cry 1 by now

The only one I've really played is Far Cry 2 on PC and to be honest I found it lackluster and regret buying it. I was just desparate for a new game and thought it looked good but I find it's basically just a tedious FPS. I mean, shit, I clear out a guard post and 20 minutes later drive by it and there's more enemies there!

It definitely has some good stuff in it but I played it after already beating Crysis and Warhead so going back in time to an earlier Crytek game... it wasn't as good.

One of the greatest games ever? Maybe a bit too much, but I did have fun with Far Cry and Far Cry 2. Sure 2's story was crap and, well, a lot was crap about that game, but the gunplay itself was really solid, awesome explosions and pretty immersive environments. Very fun for like half an hour each day or something.

Far Cry 1...I can honestly say I have never played a prettier FPS set in tropical islands. Story, mission design, characters, voice acting, all meh. But damnit, it looked pwetty!

I've played them all, my favorite was probably Instincts Predator for the multiplayer. I still think it's one of the most enjoyable FPS's out just for the predator game mode. I used to play it all the time online and on 4 player split screen. It's insane, the pad shakes like shit the closer the predator gets and you know you're gonna die, but there's also a tiny chance you can win. That game mode combined with the map editor was quality, I'd literally shit bricks in my own map which was basically just a giant jungle island in the middle of the map, with the non-predator people being spawned on boats, just seeing the predator jump out of the forest and swimming at ridiculous speeds, occasionally lunging to try and kill someone was enough to scare the shit out of me, it still is.

FC2 was good too, I liked the whole loneliness of it all, and the map was fun to explore. The stealth mechanics could've done with a lotta work, but I still enjoyed creeping around with a silenced pistol and dart gun.. when it worked. It took me like over a year to complete it as well, so that kinda speaks for itself. The multiplayer was good too, but compared to instincts predator it just wasn't the FC I was used to. They need to bring back predator mode, I don't give a shit if it makes no sense.

FarCry 2 is one of my favourite games, whereas FarCry is just something I once used as a benchmarking tool.

The original was a stunning game to play in terms of visuals and level design, but everything else was a let down. The human AI precluded the use of stealth, as they would see you and hear you from miles away. I know the same complaint is levelled at FC2, but I don't find this at all and so can only reason that most people suck as it's stealth mechanics.
But even with the enemies superhuman senses, I enjoyed the game right up until the Trigens appeared. That completely fucked the difficulty curve for me and turned the game into "Hunt the healthpack", and when none was available I'd find myself reloading sequences constantly in an attempt to do them while taking no damage.
The incidentals of the game also felt bland - the weapons, story and characters. Weapons always seemed more accurate in enemies hands than mine (not my fault, I assure you) and I honestly didn't give a shit about what I was doing.

On a final note, I always love that famous complaint about FC2. Imagine if the enemies didn't respawn. After a few missions you would be left with the most boring action game of all fucking time as EVERYONE would be dead. And then we'd see everyone demanding respawning badguys.

The game has the best map builder ever. That sells it for me right of the back.
That same map-builder was heavily updated and improved for Crysis :D In fact the Crytek Sandbox 2 Crysis editor is my most used application after Google Chrome...

And I found FC1 to have a bit of an irritating difficulty curve, so I stopped playing after I almost broke the key-board.
FC2 I finished, but that game was pure and refined faeces.
