Mine is a three way tie
between Troy Duffy, Tarantino, and Takashi Miike
Really troy duffy? I respect that people like the first Boondock Saints where I didn't care for it but other than that the only other thing he's directed Boondock Saints 2. I never saw it but didnt fans of the first one hate the second one?
The amazing thing is that Boondock Saints 2 even exists in the first place, since Troy Duffy majorly lost his shit and wound up burning every bridge he built in the industry, practically ending his career in the process. They even made a documentary about the whole ordeal.

As for my favorite director, and I'm going to look so uncool for saying this, I love Steven Spielberg. He has this unbelievable ability to make you feel 8 years old.

Probably Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg or Peter Weir. And I also quite like the films that Clint Eastwood directed. Not so much the ones he's actually in, though.
Just curious, do you actually like Spielberg? Or just Star wars.
Cause I don't really like Spielberg, but am a HUGE fan of the Original Star Wars trilogy.

Clint Eastwood.

I love the man's movies. Not all his films are great, but he's directed some absolute gems that more than make up for it. Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino are probably his best, and are genuinely terrific films. Unforgiven and Gran Torino are especially interesting if you compare them to his earlier Man With No Name and Dirty Harry movies; each of them is essentially a sendoff for its respective character.

Don't fret; the only real reason I chose Eastwood over him is that I've seen more of Eastwood's movies. That being said, Seven Samurai is my choice for best film ever made.

My favorite director is Sergio Leone.
Sergio Leone owes a lot to Akira Kurosawa. His A Fistful of Dollars is a westernized remake of Kurosawa's Yojimbo.
I didn't know that at first, either, but just watch it. It's undeniable.
Plus, the Magificent Seven is a westernized remake of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. And Star Wars, of all things, was partially influenced by The Hidden Fortress. Kurosawa was a huge influence on movies and directors back in the day. It's sad to see no one seems to acknowledge him anymore!

Oh yeah, I love Kurosawa as well. It's just that Once Upon a Time in the West, and Once Upon a Time in America are my two favorite movies of all time. Slow, but gorgeous and moving to watch.

That's cool, and I agree they are great movies.
His Duck, You Sucker was kind of odd and also slow but I liked it too.
...But, the ex-IRA guy's flashback scenes always struck me as really weird...
(To hokey, maybe, and they seemed to insinuate awkward Irish threesomes.)

Kubrick, Tarantino, Peter Jackson, and Miyazaki.

I said Jackson's first name only because his last name alone isn't as well recognized.
