Now that we have moved on to the 3DS, what is your favorite game from the original DS? It had a very impressive library. Much better than I would of ever expected.

Hard for me to choose but I might go with Radiant Historia. It felt like a throwback to SNES JRPGs. The time travel and dual timeline thing was pretty awesome. I was hooked to that game from start to finish.

Dragon Quest IX is probably the closest runner up. I also loved the remakes of DQ4, 5, and 6.

What is your favorite and why?

Pokemon: SoulSilver kept me busy for a very, very, long time.

Being a remake of probably my favorite Pokemon game and the last generation I really got into, I couldn't have been happier seeing it updated with fancy new graphics/mechanics.

Hopefully, Pokemon X will impress me just the same come October.

I am not done with Nintendo DS games. My favourite is Radiant Historia. Runner ups are Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest V and New Super Mario Bros.

Oh, this is a toughy. Hmmm...one of the Ace Attorney games, perhaps? Possibly Ghost Trick? One of the two Kingdom Hearts games? One of the SMTs maybe? Maybe I'll go with Sir Christopher up there and say Radiant Historia.

No, without a doubt, my favorite game on the DS was Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, definitely the best one in the series in my opinion. The puzzles were a great mix of easy and hard, the story was great and oh god, them feels! D`:

PUZZLE GAMES SHOULDN'T MAKE YOU CRY!!!

But that's what made it so excellent. It grabbed me, made me care about the characters, and ultimately left me blubbering like a baby. All the while giving me a solid series of puzzles to tease my mind.

These five come into my mind (not in any order)-

1 Last Window: The Secret of Cape West (fantastic story and theme).
2 Pokemon Diamond (Pokemon duh).
3 Infinite Space (despite the simple battle mechanic, it cramp in alot of stuff).
4 Phantasy Star Zero (what I wanted out of a Phantast Star game).
5 Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes (the puzzle game itself was fun and addicting).

I have no idea, but it's probably an Atlus game.

Touch Detective was the first game, in a LONG time, that actually made me laugh.

Dragon Quest V.

If we're talking original games, the Professor Layton series.

Professor Layton series -- I played the game more because I loved the look and the cute animations, not because I particularly enjoyed riddles and mindgames.

Pokemon -- because Pokemonz

Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass -- admittedly short and missing a lot of content compared to other console LoZ games, but I think they're the most engaging of the portable LoZ games (omitting The Minish Cap, which also was short). Plus, Phantom Hourglass has Linebeck, and Linebeck is cool.

Aside from the Pokemon games, I enjoyed SolaToRobo and The World Ends with You the most.
I've actually been thinking about going back and playing TWEWY again, even though I haven't dented my giant backlog of unfinished games.

Damn, this is a tough one, cus' I love my DS.

It's a three way tie:

*Megaman ZX Advent: The proceeding series after Megaman Zero (with all the difficulties that came with it) and a sequel to Megaman ZX. What makes this game awesome is that on top of all the elements of the first installment, using A-Trans allows you to not only utilize the powers and abilities of your defeated foes, but you actually become your defeated foes, including the protagonists from the previous installment.

*Monster Tale: A Metroidvania style game with emphasis on creature raising, a lot of fun combat, and colorful environments. There's a lot of places to explore and back track, as well as challenging bosses. Also, you can raise your creature to have dozens of forms and customize your attacks to meet any situation.

*Sonic Rush: A fun, simple 2.5D Sonic title that allows you to play as Blaze the Cat, who has slightly different moves than Sonic, and the game that introduced the Boost ability that Sonic now utilizes. It has a lot of great levels and the soundtrack is awesome.

Either LoZ: Phantom Hourglass, or any of the Professor Leytons. Those games game me hours of looking confused and being screamed at for being late off breaks in work.

Devil Survivor 2 was brilliant. Interesting characters with well thought out personalities and motives? Check. Addictive demon collection and customization system? Check. Awesome story with actual choices that make you stop and think? Check.
I enjoyed Pokemon White a little less, but it was still a good ride. Probably my favorite Pokemon game yet. Props to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon as well for surprising me with it's story. And, of course, TWEWY.

Devil Surivior, never beat it but damn that atmopshpere was great and the gamplay was nearly flawless

Phoenix Wright: Trial and Tribulations.A good sense of building towards a climax and every case was top notch if that makes sense. Also had some of the best theme songs in the series with Warehouse Tiger,Fragrance of a Dark Coffee,Please Listen and a ton of others

Mario Kart DS,ton of great tracks and I think this started the retor cup feature and it's just a solid carting experience I can pop it in anytime and still enjoy it. Though MK7 is slowly taking it's place.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days, the first great portable Kingdom Hearts, had excellent character development and a good mission based structure for a handheld game IT also has a damn heartbreaking ending that had me bawling.

All the Ace Attorney games. I got engrossed in the story rather easily. Completed all of them now aside from Gyakuten Kenji 2, which has yet to be released outside of Japan. I only recently started playing them (around April) and I've started replaying them again in anticipation for Dual Destinies. Trials and Tribulations is easily the best of the games, and the final case (Bridge to the Turnabout) is the pinnacle of the series.

Aside from the Ace Attorney games, I enjoyed Pokemon Diamond. It's insane to think that it was 6 years ago that I got my hands on it and completed it within 3 days of release. Time flew by when I was playing it, and I found the gen.4 pokemon to be superb. My only concern with the Pokemon games is that you can't have multiple save files. I'd have replayed it constantly since then, but I've already transferred my pokemon from Sapphire, and they have a special place in my heart (all of my childhood pokemon stored on one DS cart).

Animal Crossing was another pick. Me and my brother both had copies so we were always competing in terms of getting the biggest house etc. There was always so much to do and it really felt limitless when it was released.

I'm looking forward to getting a 3DS now so I can play the sequels to the games that I listed above. In all honesty, I skipped gen.5 of Pokemon so maybe that's worth a try someday.

I've probably said it several times on this forum, but Pokemon Black version(or White), because it impressed me so much. People are overly cruel or dismissive to the fifth gen Pokemon, but I will gladly say they are my favorites. The story while simple, was well done and the stakes and motivations were bigger than beating all the gym leaders and taking on the elite four.

The characters are memorable, your two friends/rivals are there to test you, but are going at the same pace, and act like how real friends would on a journey. The locations and music are well made and varied. I hope X and Y try to emulate the fifth gen games style and tone, because it all worked so well.

If you like JRPG's, may I recommend the aptly titled nostalgia?
Oh, man, I loved that game. Spent hours looking for all the World Treasures.

It gets a lot of shit, but it's a charming little diversion and doesn't need to be anything more.
