Kane from the book, Outlanders. He's a badass with a soft spot, an interesting personality and a sense of style. He's one of my favorite characters really.

I'll go with Prince Myshkin. He's the reason I consider being called an idiot a compliment. Other contenders: Brendan Heat from Gungrave (loyalty and all that), Faramir from LotR series (for refusing the ring. In the book anyway) and Lucifer from the Vertigo comic series (I can't put his awesomeness into words).

EDIT: having seen Foggys post, I now feel like a total jackass for forgetting Rorschach.

My favorite hero from anything ever is the T-Rex from Jurassic Park. The main characters are just about to become raptor food, then bam Rexy bursts in and saves them. Plus he ate a lawyer, there's no characarter more heroic than him.
I think I'm in love. *Swoon*

My favorite "hero" is Deadpool.

I like Korbin Dallas from Fifth Element, mainly for his quick and precise 'negotiation' technique. William Munny from 'Unforgiven', if he can actually be called a hero, is another at the top of my list.

I'd say Stranger, from Stranger's Wrath, or maybe Vivi.
Power to summon walls of fire, or shoot live animals out of a crossbow...
hmmmm...

Batman, or Harry Dresden, from the Dresden Files. Batman, is well, Batman. As for Harry Dresden, its like Jim Butcher took me, made me a wizard detective, older, and slightly more wise assed. God I love it.

I can't decide on one so I'm going to go with the BS answer and say Harry Potter because that series doesn't show up in this forum much.

Atticus Finch.

edit: Oh OK I'll admit a fondness for Monkey, Great Sage Equal of Heaven from Journey to the West, particularly because of Monkey Magic.

My bro is dead. He's gone! But he's right there on my back, and here in my heart! He lives on as a part of me! If you're gonna dig, dig to the heavens. No matter what's in my way I won't stop!! Once I've dug through...it means that I've won!! Just who the hell do you think I am? I'm Simon. I'm not my bro. I'm ME!! Simon THE DIGGER!!!

None.

So I'll go with Cid Highwind for the sake of the topic.

Victor Mancini from "Choke" by Chuck Palanhiuk.

Why? He's awesome, and more or less closely reflects how I generally feel about things.

Also, practically any Terry Pratchett character - while I may not agree with all of them, they're all awesome, whether it's Sam Vimes, Angua, that dwarf chick (Yeah, I'm ashamed that I forgot the name, but I haven't touched TP books for a while now) and of course Rincewind.

I have many favourite heroes. This is one of them:

Beacuse it requires a badass to look good in an 80's hairdo.
