I usually go for a mage. Just something about shooting arcane magicks from your fingertips to carve a bloody swath through your enemies just gets me all excited.

If the party needs one, though, I'll pick a healer class.

Big weapon, lots of armour, few tricks. Usually turns out to be simple, yet effective.
Works in Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, World of Warcraft, Bioshock and is now working in Mass Effect.

Psychotic mercanery. If nothing else, then warrior or fighter/Mage.

I have to lean towards the mage, assassin, or thief. I like all three. Mage because of it's repitoire of spells to work with allows a bit more freedom, assassin because I like the idea of attacking when the enemy least expects it, and thief because I like pissing my opponents off by stealing all of their items except their own shirt and pants. Of course I also use Warriors, Paladin's and the like, but to me it doesn't really matter how the enemy is killed, so long as it's dead and you're not.

Theifs! Take your enemies' stuff, poison him nonchalantly and then run away. Just how I fight in real life.

that was the general idea, if i can turn my head my muscles aren't big enough.

also, conqueror Kenny sounds like my kind of guy, big with damage, come meet my orc barbarian!, well do lunch then wreck up the place.

Stealth classes mostly, i love to play mind games with people.

The one exception would be fallout 2, where i bluff my way through the entire game, uber intelligence and speech ftw

i once played a stealth bosmer in Oblivion who used illusion magic to turn people against one another... it was.. amusing...

So i concur that it can be fun, but ill stick with my Orc for now, all enchanted Daedric armor and big warhammers... enchanted warhammers...

Ok, so i like mages for making my weapons set people on fire...

And healers for stopping me from dying...

Ok, and bards for inspiring me...

Fine... I find all classes useful, but ill stick with my Orc, because you need me to actually slug the baddies. (mages are great until they run out of magic, then they're a rather cumbersome sheath.

I'm a big fan of the Red Mage from Final Fantasy as well. I'm talking about the ORIGINAL Final Fantasy though. I thought they turned them into wussies in FFXI.

For when you absolutely have to kill everything in the room in 1 round.

Just make sure you up that tumble stat for if you have to fight anything powerful... If you're good enough, you can attack whilst tumbling and end up flanking them for the next round.
