I loved Morrigan's romance. From what would appear to be a shallow tryst blossoms this mix of desire, fear and genuine emotion from someone who is afraid to be vulnerable. She never completely changes her character, but she changes enough to make her incredibly endearing to the player. Her frustration makes her to be far more human than the predictable Leliana.

It's strange. You'd think Morrigan's romance would be more unfulfilling than Leliana, because Leliana is about getting to know each other, being understanding and the like. She'll only sleep with you if she's in love with you, which takes a long time and i suppose it's the 'thrill of the hunt' with her because she doesn't put out easy, to put it crudely.

But with Morrigan, it's the complete opposite. She sleeps with you casually after little extra approval, thinks nothing of it rather than a bit of fun, and freaks out whenever you mention love or anything remotely linked to that. And as it goes on, you see her break down these little walls she's built around herself, and as much as it's 'cute' to see her get all flustered, it's more a matter of some great feeling of... i don't know, understanding? When you get even the slightest acknowledgement from her that she isn't some kind of wet blanket for thinking of something beyond baser animal instincts and self preservation.

Strangely enough, it feels like it should be reversed. That as a male, i should feel more satisfaction from having Leliana 'loosen up and get in the tent' rather than having Morrigan able to let herself feel vulnerable about something such as love. She outright refuses to have sex with you when she's in love with you, yells at you for asking for it, has incredibly rash mood swings, and calls you a bastard for not breaking up with her. And yet, i love that about her far more than i do Leliana's typically submissive girly personality.

I realise that's a specific romance subplot rather than a specific scene, but i just thought i'd share it anyway. Conversely, i actually thought the Dragon Age Origins love scenes were done fairly well. It was still just mannequins in underpants bumping uglies, yes - but the music, short cuts and expression (what little an awkward amount there is, anyway) on the characters' faces makes it more tastefully done than those of Mass Effect, for example.

The end of Uncharted 2.
I am surprised this one didn't come up more. This one is my favorite. The end of 1 was very satisfying but also very mundane. But the end of 2 was great. I can hardly wait to see what happens in 3.

The scene between Garrus and Sheppard in ME2 is quite amusing.

In terms of movies, I love the carbonite chamber scene in Empire Strikes Back. Also Gone with the Wind and Casablanca.

I am really fond of the love scene "Rose of Remembrance" in The Witcher 2. It manages to convey Geralt and Triss' passion without being too explicit, plus the Dwarf's reaction above ground is priceless.
Sorry that this one has commentary, but it was the only one I could find that has both the scene and the Dwarf.

My first sex scene in a video game was at the beginning of God of War. I just got the game, planning on playing through the night and within the first, what ten minutes, Kratos jumps into bed with some chick and there's a mini-game to how well he did in bed. Made me laugh my ass off then jumped into the raw action of button mashing and had a fun time.

The second would be when my best friend/roomate bought Fable 3 and we played at the same time. He of course made a male following a lawful good path while I created a female character becoming chaotic evil. It wasn't long before our characters married and of course had to tie the knot.

So! What's your favorite romantic or sex scene in a video game? For reasons ranging from how convincing or immersive, to graphic and entertaining, share your stories of video game love and lust!
Mass Effect 1, Liara sex scene.

It was artsy and tasteful - it suggested sex without the "pants-on dry humping" that populates ME 2 and Dragon Age.

Ashley's romance scene in Mass Effect 1. Subsequently very much liked the 'faithful to Ashley' scene in Mass Effect 2 in which Shepard gazes at her photo before the final mission.

Also as a side note, I liked Jack's romance scene in Mass Effect 2 as well. The proper 'paragon' scene I mean.

I would say very few. Vidya games generally suck when it comes to love and sex. The one from The Darkness sounds very well done. Prince of Persia: SoT is okay, but it mostly stands out for not being glaringly bad and being an effectively integrated part of a larger story.
What about movies? Or books and comics?

And I will disagree with you there, video games have a huge potential, and there are plenty of games that do it right. FF8, ICO, FF10, Max Payne 2, yeah Prince of Persia too. And I'm sure there are others...

But.... yeah I'll also agree. There are way too many that just botch it
in the end of the book contact harvest there is a very interesting part...

Yeah that one did kind of catch me a little off guard but I liked it. More than I can say for the rest of the book =/

I hate it when romance gets added to games. I play games to drive, shoot, enjoy a well told story and otherwise have an action filled experience. having to watch npcs in cut scenes try to gain the love of another npc, or worse yet have to complete romantic objectives in games in just boring to me. leave the romance to day time tv and romance movies. keep it out of the games.

I have mixed opinions about this one. On one hand, Witcher 2 depicts sex that actually resembles real sex (as opposed to the silent/clothed/awkward Dragon Age: Origins equivalent), which endears it to me somewhat. It also captures a little bit of the characters' personalities, which is surprisingly unusual a sex scene in any medium to do. And as you said, the Dwarf reaction kind of makes the scene. On the other hand, there was a very clear double standard going on re: male nudity vs. female nudity, and I think in general the scene is way too explicit.

But for me there's always going to be a Catch-22 for sex scenes: they annoy me if they're unrealistic, but if they are more realistic they annoy me because they're too explicit.

This. Brilliant character moment, and IMO way more effective at emotionally engaging the player than any of the actual "sex scenes" in ME2.

My favorite is the scene with my male Shepard and Liara T'Soni after completing the Lair of the Shadow Broker. It was enough for me to bypass my masculine instinct and just go: Awwwww!

Alastair from Dragon Age makes me giggle constantly like a small rainbow flavoured fangirl.

Being quite cynical and spikey in real life this came as quite a shock as you can imagine.
I romanced Alistair, did not do the Dark Ritual and did not make Alistair king and I was all set to make the Ultimate Sacrifice and then... "It's the sanest thing I've ever done."

His speech at the end was the most romantic moment in any game I've ever played. I cried.

The post-credits from No More Heroes 2, and the final portion of Shadows of the Damned.

Two of my favorite romances starring two of my favorite videogame characters. Suda51 is one of the best writers in this industry. He really knows how to make characters you can really give a shit about. Given how much parody and humor there are in his games since Killer7, that's doubly impressive.

Sorry, I don't have a favourite for a video game.
But, pushing into films, I found the opening sex scene in the film Antichrist to be absolutely beautiful.
The music was divine, the cinematography was framed well and being in Black and White proved most helpful too!
However, the reason I really adored it was because it was simultaneously tragic and romantic, all the while passionate.

I actually think the romance between Meng Huo and Zhu Rong in the Dynasty Warriors series is the best.

Why? Because it's realistic that's why, they constantly fight and and argue with each other just like a married couple, yet they still love eachother.
