Wizardry Gold (windows version of Crusaders of the Dark Savant)

Planescape: Torment would be second. Definitely wins on story (and comedy) but misses out on gameplay and replayability.

Shining in the Darkness would be third. So simple, yet so enthralling. But again, lack of replay value hinders the game.

If the Diablo games count (I don't usually count them but they are called Action-RPGs) then they would be my top two. Soon hopefully to be top 3!

huuuh...damn this is a hard choice...It's honestly a toss up between Mass Effect 1&2. And Fallout 3. Though KOTOR was awesome as well...I can't pick between them.

Oblivion or KOTOR; probably KOTOR overall, even if I've probably played Oblivion slightly more, but that's purely because I can't get KOTOR to run on my current PC and my laptop probably couldn't handle it (admittedly it can't handle much, but...) maybe I could get it for the Xbox, but I don't know, I'd prefer it worked on my PC again.

Ogre Battle 64
I think I'll play some right now.
Good man, not a well enough known game, yet probably the best RPG ever. Wish they'd do more instead of freakin' final fantasy (each of which I got bored of and never finished).

Between Ogre Battle, and the original Golden Sun games, hard to say which one I loved more. Probably Golden Sun just because I was able to take it everywhere (which I did, screw school).
There are a few Ogre Battle games, but the first was not that good, and the second one (64) was incredible, but didn't create as much as a splash as it should have. Alot of people I have met that consider themselves RPG enthusiasts, have never even heard of Ogre Battle 64, and its just such an amazing game! =| I have never gotten tired of playing it, and I've beaten it completely 5 times.

I'd say Golden Sun is better, but only because its done more games, has more fan following, and you can be a drooling idiot and still follow the storyline. Ogre Battle 64 has a rather... confusing storyline. And saying it is confusing, is putting it very lightly :p

Morrowind. The number of hours I've put into that game is frankly embarrassing.
Heh...remember...you're never the only one. And prolly there's someone out there who has put EVEN MORE hours into it than you.

Baldur's Gate 2, Morrowind, Mass Effect 2.
Mass effect II is not an RPG.

Wild Arms, Final Fantasy VII, or Valkyrie profile.

Also, System Shock II <3
Wait wait wait. Final Fantasy VII is an RPG but Mass Effect 2 isnt? Might want to think about that again.
That was actually supposed to be VIII, not 7, I made a mistake, but in any case, uhh.. yeah Final Fantasy VII is definately more of an RPG than Mass Effect II.

Protip: More stats and longer story dont mean more RPG.
Leaning more towards dungeons and dragons, having a similar setup and even monsters from the DnD series ie. (bandersnatches, sahagin's and various other assorted creatures) does.
Not just a longer story, but also a better written one, by far.
At least Final Fantasy VII's story is original. Mass Effect(as much as I loved the first one) is just ripped out of Arthur C Clarke's "The Sentinel".

Opinions. Final Fantasy is known for having pretty much the same story every game.

Now stop trolling.
You clearly haven't played many of the final fantasy series then.
No two games are anything alike in story, gameplay, characters, setting or concept.
Also, i'm not trolling, I hated mass effect II.

Insecure teenager is somehow has to save the peaceful world from an identical evil established early in the game. Along the way, he rides big birds, whines about how insecure he is and spends 5 hours in the bathroom sorting out his hair each morning. Final Fantasy games are very, very, very, very similar in game and concept, and identical in characters and story. Final Fantasies stories are about as original as making a the cake was a lie reference. And the majority of people who try to sell them as original are just "Boohoo im 2 deep 4 u sepirot 4ever" weeaboos.

Mass Effect may be ripped from just about every science fiction novel or film ever made, but its still a fuck ton better than any Final Fantasy story.
Any credibility I may have given you just flew out the window when you accused me of being a Sephiroth fangirl.
Sephiroth annoyed the hell out of me, but I'm sorry the overall plot of Final Fantasy VII was more original than Mass Effect's story by far.
You have just proven that you haven't actually played many of the final fantasies, (if any).
The protagonists of the final fantasy series are actually very rarely insecure about themselves (the main one with self-esteem issues being Squall). You have no valid basis to which to make your argument, whereas I have played and Finished Mass effect 1 and 2, Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VII, IX, X and X-2, XII, and XIII, as well as Tactics, Tactics Advance, and the 4 heroes of light.

It's really a tie between The Witcher and Oblivion for me. Which means they'll probably both be displaced by Skyrim and The Witcher 2.
