Favorite RTS factions?

Imperial Guard - Dawn of War series
GDI - original Command and Conquer and CnC 3
Soviets - CnC Red Alert 1 and 2
Galactic Empire - Star Wars: Empire at War
UNSC - Halo Wars

Basically any human faction that wields a huge army with powerful tanks or walkers.

DoW I: Tau. Pulse rifles and dinosaurs for the win.

Dow II: Guard thus far. I really, really, like the tanks.

Starcraft I/II: Terrans. Go Marines.

Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption: Zann Consortium. I like those guys for some reason.

Command and Conquer Tiberium: Scrin or GDI, depending upon the day.

I've never really liked RTS that much but i always loved the celts in age of empires and the way their units actually spoke Irish words when you gave them actions. Listening to a villager go "Iascaireacht" when you told them to fish was pretty cool.

Age of Empires: They were all pretty similar, but probably Carthaginians (cause they had all the elephants)
Age of Empires 2: Chinese. I could understand what the units were saying, and the Cho Ko Nu were awesome.
Age of Mythology: Loki. Hersir rush ftw!
Company of Heroes: British Royal Artillery. I like the Brits, and I like dropping bombs on people from far away.

Shogun 2: Ikko Ikki. Rebelling provinces turn to your side? Awesome. And they've got badass monk and ashigaru units too. Nothing like watching 10 units of Ikko Ikki ashigaru just decimate the enemy because you they cost less and there are more of them in a unit (180 to 160, etc.)

could you tell me where they start?

O.T. i dont think i am qualified to answer as i have only played Shogun 2 and only done 2 campaigns, but i plan on getting a lot more strategy games

I believe they start in the north side of the very middle of the map.

Starcraft: Zerg... Need to explain? Its like commanding an army of aliens.

Tyranids and Zerg, I usually go for the most alien faction I can.

Also Vasari from Sins of a Solar Empire. Their starbases just completely faceroll anything not geared to deal with them.

Eldar is Dawn Of War: Dark Crusade.

I build everywhere, i love my Webway gates <3 same with the Imperial Gaurd and there tunnel system.

The Republic in Starwars Galactic Battlegrounds (although every team is the same with a different skin tbh)

Elves in Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2.

The Rebels in Empire at war, and the UNSC in Halo Wars.

China, Nuke-general, from C&C Generals: Zero Hour. I loved seeing the poor little infantry guys fly into the air when you bombed when with nuclear warhead-equipped MIGs

anyways I love playing as the covenant in halo wars. But my favorite is the Chinese is Command and Conquer- Gods and Generals.

-C&C Tiberium: The Brotherhood of Nod. Stealth,high powered lasers...And devestating chemical weaponry. What's not to love?
-Supreme Commander 1: Cybran Nation. Stealth,Heavy Microwave Laser (Monkeylord gun),and an amphibious destroyer. The single most mobile faction in the game.
-C&C Red Alert (BEFORE 3!): Soviets. Tesla weapons,the singular most effective tank,and a cheap and fast war machine. Zerg rush with heavy tanks. Whatchya gunna do?
-C&C Generals: China. Gatling tanks,nuke howitzers,and units that are better than everyone else's in swarms. We are legion.
-Halo Wars: UNSC;Anders. 20 Hawks,Super Cryo Bomb. I think I win.
-Starcraft: Terran. Mobile,durable;killer combo.

Most of those are the "Red" factions...Who cares! Fear my favourite aspects of my favourite factions!

If we include mods, probably a tie between Steel Legion, Daemonhunters and Tau from Dawn of War.

Also, the Xenomorphs in AvP: Extinction. Such a unique and fun race to play.

Obvious choice is obvious, I suppose.

There is on only superior faction... and the faction is YURI

I take it that by 'superior' you mean 'overpowered'.

And I take it that by "overpowered" you mean "absolutely pathetic." Man Yuri was a wuss. Not sure why he even bothered. His army might as well have been guys throwing rocks at me.

Hey look! I indefinitely shut down your entire power system with a single flying unit!

Hey look! My gatling turrets basically render all your air units useless, as well as all V3 launching units! And they can slaughter infantry as well!

So yeah... they were certainly the 'superior' faction.

More like:

"Hey look! My anti-air defenses shot down your pathetic UFOs before they could get close to my power plants!"

"Hey look! My various long-range defenses killed your silly mind control unit before it got close to anything important!"

"Hey look! Your gattling turrets aren't fast enough to take down multiple rockets launched at the same time! Or I can just bomb them with Kirovs because they suck at taking out Kirovs! Or I can send in my tanks because they can't do a thing to tanks! And god help you if I'm the allies, as you have NO defense against Prism tanks!"

Honestly, I can't believe that any player with even the tiniest bit of skill at the game could have any trouble whatsoever taking on Yuri's pathetic army of gimmicks.
