The Stargate series (including SGU, but excluding SGI). It has action, cool effects, interesting and varied storylines, a neat premise, great cast, and (particularly in SGU) good drama. Also in the later seasons the cast of loads of cancelled Sci-Fi shows turned up with actors from Firefly and Farscape joining the main cast.

I am the owner of the <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Stargate-Fan-Club>Escapist Stargate Fan Club so if any fellow fans of the series are reading this then you can join up to chat about the show and receive the latest Stargate news (there is usually at least one news update a week). I mean did you know that a massive eBay auction of thousands of Stargate props has been going on for the past few months? You would if you joined the group.

These are actually the only shows I ever watch:

Doctor Who
QI
Have I Got News For You
CSI
CSI: Miami
CSI: New York
NCIS
Scrubs
Two And A Half Men
Blackadder

Although my liking for Nu Who has dimmed substantially as of late. Damn Moffat.

I need to start watching this Dr Who thing, everyone's going on about it.

Anyone got any tips on what season I should get my hands on?

Avatar: The Last Airbender. The greatest show I have ever seen. A truly amazing fantasy with multi-dimensional characters, a great story, a developed and complex setting, great humor, epic battles, and very few flaws. And it does it all while being kid-friendly, but never too juvenile (with the possible exception of some of the first season, before the show matured quite a bit in the season 1 finale).

In order of importance in my life at present:

Firefly (Because it's never not important.)
Top Gear (Because I love me some nice cars.)
Doctor Who (Because the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey calls to me always.)
Whose Line Is It Anyway? (Because I recently rediscovered it and am enjoying watching the episodes again.)
Stargate: Universe (Because it's a lot of fun, even though I'm not as enthralled because we're in the off-season.)
Futurama (Because science-fiction cartoons are amazing, and this is the best one.)

Other stuff like Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, Band of Brothers and others are great, but not as prevalent in my life at the moment.

I'm just a fan of the rebooted series, but any of those seasons are pretty damn good. Try Season One, with Christopher Eccleston, or Season Three, with David Tennant. Those are my two favorite seasons thus far, but One through Four are all amazing. I'm a little less impressed by Season Five thus far, but it has its moments.

I don't watch TV at all, but the last TV shows I saw (DVD) were Firefly, Heros and Peepshow (actually the last was on the web).
