It's tough not to say either Vice City's 80's-themed soundtrack or San Andreas' rap and rock soundtrack.

But there are a few other games worth mentioning. Mid-2000's Madden games had great soundtracks, as do a lot of racing games (Need For Speed stands above the competition in this category). And I haven't even mentioned any of the many games with good to great orchestral soundtracks.

Red Alert 2 for me, though Dead Space's was awesome, I wouldn't really call it a soundtrack because it wasn't really "music".

All the Katamari games (that I have played) have great music, I even have the sound track to We Love Katamari.

GTA: Vice City's soundtrack is amazing. The talk channels beat all challengers and the music is so fitting with the over the top crazy action and manic-ness of the game.

For orchestral stuff metal gear solid as a series has epic music

Gears of War (1 and 2), Quake 4, Mass Effect and Crysis were all pretty good.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3´s. also the 4th and 5th game. Paul Romero is a genius.

All the Halo games have great soundtracks. So did the new Bionic Commando, surprisingly.

although Mechwarrior 2 has taken/had the cake for over 13 years.

HALO 2 is a beautiful and epicly orchistrated god of gaming music and to me is on par with FF7.

sonic three is awsome, maybe Zelda OoT or metroid prime. Halo has a nice one to.

Love the soundtracks of FFs 4 through 9. Don't like as much stuff in 10, but I like some of it. I wish Uematsu was composing FF13. ;_;

I like the FF12 soundtrack too, but not as much as the earlier games.

Metal Gear Solid also has great music.
