i don't know if this counts as a weapon but my bare hands. 90% of the coolest things i've ever done in gaming have been done with my fists, from the fatalities in mortal kombat:shaolin monks, to bayman's backbreaker in DOA, most fighting games have at least one really devastating move thats fun to watch. wrestling games especially allow those of us with a deviant mind to do awful things with the human form.

but as far as actual weapons, the soul reaver (raziel's version) i mean whats better than staking someone to a wall and steeling their soul. nothing thats what.

and the riot shield from urban chaos, police brutality is always good for the comunity and nothing says "no littering" like a giant plexiglass sheild pasting you one in the face.

in any game the guided missle is a fun little toy, chasing people down as a high powered rocket definitly makes my day.

the double nunchuck style from soul calibur 3 was tons of fun for me, nothing like breaking a soul edge weilding monster with some nunchucks.

I have to say my favorite weapon of all time has to be the Piano wire from the first Hitman game. There was just something so satisfying in casually going behind someone and then strangling them till they stopped twitching.

I think the most fun weapon that I ever used was the shark gun from Armed and Dangerous.
Awww, man I forgot about that game (which is weird, 'cause I just made some huge posts about it on another thread). Shark Gun, Topsy Turvy bomb, Vindaloo Launcher.

Lightsabers are always a win. Especially in Jedi Academy. That game kicked seven kinds of ass.

I think a.....unique.....weapon would've been your default weapons from that old Beavis and Butthead Genesis game. Burping and Farting ftsomething.

I dunno.... I always thought the mop from Chrono Trigger was epic.

Honorable mentions would have to go to

Guilty Gear : May's Anchor and Dr. Baldhead's Scalpel

and the plastic bag in Manhunt. That stealth kill was just flipping brutal.

My favorite Video Game Weapon? The Mega Buster from Mega Man. It mows down enemies with rapid fire and charge capabilities. its like having a machine gun and grenade launcher all in one, not to mention the free upgrades, unlimited ammo, and ability to turn the weapons of your rivals into powerful plugins for it. It's always kicked a lot of bad guy butt. And everything about it is FREE! I nominate the X buster as the weapon of democracy. It can even stop time! Though I doubt it can change the stock market. Maybe if you defeat allan greenspan?

hm I have lots of favorites. In Perfect Dark (64 bitches!) the AR-34 and Laptop gun (and the Farsight XR-20 and Slayer were also ridiculously badass!)

From Turok Rage Wars I have to go with the Chestburster, or the Raptor charge claw attack. I mean come on, how can you not love infecting someone with a little alien that is going to violently burst from their chest killing them, but they get to live long enough to 1.) attempt to kill you and save themselves or B.) more likely know that their horrible horrible death is coming.

From Resident Evil, the shotgun wins by spades. I never really used the magnum due to limited ammo, (and I almost always just skipped grabbing the grenade launcher) but the shotgun was always a lifesaver. The Samurai Edge is also incredibly badass, but the shotgun still trumps it, and the inifinite rocket launcher, while it looks incredibly badass, just takes all the fun out of the game. Nothing is scary anymore :(

And of course, there's the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device.

Based on many mentions of it, the wrench in Bioshock was pretty awesome, I must admit. Mostly because the game seemingly bends over backwards to give you a ton of tonics that make it ridiculously powerful.

The throwing knives off Deus Ex. I mean, you only ever got like 15 in the entire bloody game if you scoured every square inch with a fine tooth comb, but copping an MJ12 guard in the head with one of those babies was incredibly satisfying.

Oh, and never forgeting the concrete donkey.

Seriously? No one's mentioned the Yoshitsuna from Disgaea? It's stupidly powerful.
Other favorites include the hammer from Smash Bros. and banana bombs and holy hand grenades from Worms.

The knife in pretty much any game. Take CoD4, the best players get tons of kills by just sprinting up to some moron and stabbing them.

Tis sad that three pages has passed, and the Spinfusor aka Stormhammer aka Disklauncher has not been mentioned.

Their are other great weapons, but have all been mentioned, however, this is the one that is fondly remembered and loved by Tribers and ex-Tribers all over the world. Will be interesting to see how the spiritual successor of the series, Legions, incorporates this great and important weapon in Video Game history.

I like the sheep in Worms. The most amusing weapon ever.

Also the flak gun in UT was an amazingly versatile weapon.

I must agree with the satisfaction gained from wielding the double-barrelled shotgun in DOOM 2. That sound was amazing.
