Only For The Weak is a fantastic song. I haven't heard an song by In Flames that I don't like yet. However, when I say three of his best works, setting aside the fact that I love those three songs and do indeed rate them very highly, they also happened to be the first three to come on through iTunes' shuffle feature =PNeonbob said:Not a big fan of Only for the Weak? singing voice.
I personally found the Whoracle and Colony albums to be Anders best work. He possessed a ferocious growl that he never use anymore, in fact, I doubt he still possess the capability to perform those vocals.DemonGuy792 said:Only For The Weak is a fantastic song. You are right when you say his vocals tie in well with the song, but I can't think of a song by In Flames where his vocals don't tie that well.
But what the hell, let's add it to the thread, it's an awesome thread and he's an awesome vocalist

I'd post a youtube link, but the 'Tube is down as I'm typing, so you'll have to make do with Google Video =P
Honestly? I admit that Anders doesn't and probably can't do that fantastic growl anymore, but personally I thought that Sense of Purpose more than matched Colony, if not exceeded it. Yes, it's a shame he doesn't growl like he used to, but the Purpose is a very good album, and certainly one of the best albums of 2008, if not my favourite of the year.Flamed up said:I personally found the Whoracle and Colony albums to be Anders best work. Everything since Come Clarity has been a hit and miss for me, but I suppose I can still admire their talent. It just isn't my cup of tea.
I wouldn't, I Googled half of those to get the specific names.Neonbob said:Not a big fan of Only for the Weak? I think the vocals tie in the best in that song.DemonGuy792 said:Anders Friden, In Flames

Aw, thanks.Vanguard_Ex said:You have godly taste.
Mine would have to be;
Ali Tabatabaee and Matty Lewis, from Zebrahead. I want to hug them, hard.
Zach De La Rocha, from Rage Against The Machine. The man is intelligent and has a fantastic vocal style.
Chris Cornell, from Audioslave and Soundgarden. What a voice.
Dexter Holland, from The Offspring. He can do so much with his voice, and it's so clear and strong.
Matthew Davies, from Funeral for a Friend. It can be perplexing loud for such a gentle singing voice.
And finally James Hetfield, from the mighty METALLICA. He can do things that few vocalists can.
*blush*
I thought the name Hetfield sounded familiar...I feel pretty stupid right about now.
Aye, honestly. I've always been a guy for beefy growls, I'm generally opposed to mixing clean vocals with screams/growls in music. In Flames is one of the few bands that is an exception to that rule of mine, Anders makes it sound great most of the time. Come Clarity and A Sense of Purpose has just become too, ehrm, "lame" compared to the music I'm into. In Flames have evolved away from me and the melodeath genre, which is a shame.DemonGuy792 said:Honestly? Vocalists. Vocals. sNot peaking quickly doesn't qualify.black lincon said:Asheru from, well, he's a rapper

Absolutely. I'll admit I grew up with Maiden and Metallica, so I'm more than used to non-growling vocals, but a friend of mine started getting me into it, and to help with it he lent me the entire In Flames back catalogue, around 3 years back, and I've just been really getting into growls.Flamed up said:Aye, honestly. Anyway, in regard to what I said above, I think you understand that I try to keep it to 100% growling if whenever I can.
But it all winds down to personal preference in the end, yes?
