Either Buttersafe or Nedroid.

Plastic Brick Automaton is amazing but damn slow with updates.

Goblins. It's awesome. Although ever since I actually caught up waiting a few days for an update is such a pain, I mean, can't he just NOT sleep/eat or something and pump the comic out for me to read continuously? Some people are so selfish.

Thought of two more high-brow ones you guys should chheck out:

Dresden Codak [http://dresdencodak.com/] for mind-boggling
Gunnerkrigg Court [http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/] for sheer beauty

When it comes to story I prefer Something Positive, Dumbing of Age, Multiplex, A Comic with a French Name Involving Three People, GastroPhobia, The Zombie Hunters and Dead Winter. I love Something Positive so much, so addicted to it, that I have to forbid myself from reading till the end the year else I find myself antsy waiting for the next update.

As far as pure comedy goes I read Scandinavia and the World, Explosm, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, Filibuster Cartoons, AmazingSuperPowers and Extra Ordinary. Usually avoid game related comics due to being tired of "This game's world doesn't match reality" or "This game is secretly scary due to X". Although I can't lie, that one comic of Dueling Analogs with Pac-Man envisioned as a supernatural cop thriller holds a special joy for me.

A tie between The Oatmeal, xkcd and The Perry Bible Fellowship.
If I had to chose 1, I would say the Oatmeal.

My favorite webcomic ever, no contest, is Bruno. [http://www.baldwinpage.com/jan196.html] It gets better once the story gets going, but if you don't like it from the beginning you won't like it later. And if you like it from the beginning you're going to love it later!

Snafu comics
Specifically the ones made by Bleedman, reliving my childhood and great art!
His art is the only reason why I ever go to that site in the first place.
Ever after was pretty sweet too, to bad it's been on hiatus for what 4, 5 years now? I heard Endling is going to start it up again though.

Yahtzee takes on the world.
It's a webcomic written by Yahtzee way before he started zero punctuation.
Read the whole thing, it's awesome :D

However my favorite would have to be 'The Last Days of Foxhound', an absolutely amazing Metal Gear Solid webcomic

The Adventures of Dr.Mcninja, though it hasn't been quite as funny since he started doing them in color. It's been getting better with the recent time travel arc and Judy gets a Kitten is still fucking hilarious.

Runners up: Questionable Content,Persona 3 FTW, Himdaisy's Persona 4 comics and Yu+Me:Dream

Well Thezombienation.com and Romantically Apocalyptic are the first two I can think of that haven't been said already. I actually have quite a few others, but I'm so behind on so many of the webcomics that I've read that that it's going to take forever to catch up with them all.

The main ones I follow are Ctrl-Alt-Del, Least I Could Do, PvP, Girl Genius, Penny Arcade, The Trenches, and Dark Legacy.

And this thread should also be ashamed for not mentioning Schlock Mercenary, a comic that has been delivering awesome content for the last decade with only 1 comic being semi-late, which was because the server literally exploded.

El Goonish Shive [http://www.egscomics.com], for reasons I can't quite confirm. It's very good, though.

No 8-bit theater? Even if it's completed, a 1000+ comics is pretty awesome. Idk if it's my favorite, but it hasn't been mentioned, and it's a spoof of the original FF. Come on.

And mine are probably Dr. McNinja and Mokepon. And MGDMT (which has been mentioned a lot already).

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Well, most of my favorites have been listed so Ill just give some that haven't been.

First, Ruby Quest, a fantastic lil ms paint comic that has ended but its fantastic.
http://nepeta.mozai.com/Ruby_Quest/

Prequel: making a cat cry adventure, set before the events of oblivion, this comic follows a rather worthless but endearing khajit as she tries to be less worthless. (some of the stuff in this will blow your mind if you haven't seen what html 5 can really do.)

Digger. Digger is a story about a wombat. More specifically, it is a story about a particularly no-nonsense wombat who finds herself stuck on the wrong end of a one-way tunnel in a strange land where nonsense seems to be the specialty. (copied, pasted, not read)

Lots of good comics mentioned here, I don't think I could compile a top5 because there are just too many good ones. Luckily the thread only asks for one, which is easy; Scary Go Round.

Questionable Content also ranks high because it's a good webcomic and introduced me to Pavement.
And of course LICD and the likes which have already been mentioned, Gunnerkrigg Court and Applegeeks are all good ones. Oh, and Gone With The Blastwave and TGSA. I'm gonna stop now, I could list probably 50+ more that I consider noteworthy.

But I'm gonna have to post one that will always have it's own special place, possibly even above #1: MacHall and later ThreePanelSoul.

The ones that I read regularly and have been for months/years are: Darths and Droids [http://www.darthsanddroids.net], Pokemon: Hard Mode [http://www.nuzlocke.com], Pirates of the Roleplayin' [http://www.piratesotr.net/index.html], Order of the Stick [http://www.giantitp.com/Comics.html]. I'd highly recommend all of them, they're quite good.
