Favorite Youtuber in Gaming?

Projared. He's fun, has a variety of content that's not just game streams (I tend to avoid game streams because I'd rather just play games instead), and he's often a positive voice in the medium.

I also follow YourOverwatch because they do decent work covering the game and meta, and I will admit a healty bias towards ChannelAbsoluteZero (even though he does mostly game streams these days) because I know the guy personally and he's just as goofy and fun in real life as he is on stream.

I guess Extra credits counts too? If so, I think I'd rank them even above projared. EC have been putting out quality content for YEARS and I can't imagine the internet without them.

Jim Sterling, Yatzee and YongYea are also pretty good, but not favourite level.

I also used to follow Razorfist pretty damn hardcore. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that for several years he was my absolutely favourite youtuber, no contest. His reviews and stuff were super entertaining. And then...2017 happened and he went overboard on his politics. I didn't mind having a different political viewpoint from the guy, but after 3 videos that were just so cringeworthy that I had to shut him off...I felt it might be time to move on. It was kinda funny to see him randomly debate the guy I watch for political stuff, even though it confirmed to me that moving on from him was probably best for me.

I rep Team Spooky [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuAttdu3bGo]. In my mind, they are the best weekly tournament here in the New york tri-state area. Chris G was a regular before he switched coasts.

I loved the excellent adventures of Gootecks and Mike Ross. I'm hoping this is just a hiatus and Mike Ross will be back with another game or something.

Tasty Steve and Sajam. They are fighting game commentators, but they are those dudes who used to be in your arcade making everyone laugh with their commentary. They have magic.

Two Best Friends Play

It's a good combination of proper insight into the games they play and the games industry, and just riffing on it and cracking jokes. Matt and Pat have a terrific back and forth (Woolie's cool too, I guess), and there's always a great sense of passion. They also spread their net a little wider than just Nintendo games, unlike many other prominent let's players.

Fellow fan. I found that I like the combo of Pat and Woolie more because they have a kinetic energy when they are together. Their part of the Wonderful 101 reminds me of the absolute Mirth that I used to have for video games. Matt and Liam's part was "Yeah, this is cool. Like... really cool."

I used to think he was smart and that there was some kind of culture shock or something responsible for his Trump obsession...

Then I listened to the debate he had on Drunken Peasants with Kyle Kulinsky of Secular Talk (He's my main guy for US politics) and...hoooo boy. What tiny little respect I still had for him vanished. I was like "Dude, I know you're smarter than that, why are you......Yeah, you're not smarter than that, are you? ...Dear god that makes me sad".

I mean, some highlights were him going "Government is by nature force, it's an invisible gun pointed at your skull, I am not comfortable with some nebulous all-powerful group having that power over me" and then not long after he mentioned that the police is one of the essential things the government needs to fund. And I'm there going "...Uhh...Aren't the cops the LITERAL force that the government can point at your skull? That kind of goes against your initial thesis, mate"...And him using loads of personal anecdotes about how syrian refugees were steaming into the US with zero oversight and leading to more crime because of Obama, while Kyle pointed out that the law states that there's a 18 month vetting period so the first batches are only just now starting to trickle in and fact-checked it too.

It was fun to listen to, but hot damn. Razor came armed with anecdotes and Ayn Rand and Kyle was like "I have facts and statistics that prove my point, and as a politics junkie with a daily show I know them all by heart" and steamrolled him on about 90% of the debate. It's hard to have any respect left for him after that thrashing.

I miss his stuff, but at this point I just can't go back. Which is a huge shame because I still love some of his pre-2017 videos...And now I just can't bring myself to rewatch them. ;_;

I dunno. OneyPlays are generally pretty good, they're funny and they strike the right balance between too little editing and over-edited.

Game Grumps are generally hit or miss for me; sometimes they're hilarious, other times you get shit like their Breath of the Wild playthrough.

HelixSnake was good for stupid (but funny) videos, but he seems to have gone down the "Super Mario Odyssey Pro" rabbit hole. Vinesauce Joel is also pretty funny for the same reasons, but he only uploads once in a blue moon.

Oh, you can add Projared, Yahtzee, Extra Credits and Jim Fucking Sterling Son to that list.

I see a lot of people mentioning Two Best Friends Play, think I'll check them out.

Since people are listing multiple people, I guess I'll make a second post and do the same.

As mentioned before, Jacksepticeye. But other than that:

Jim Sterling: His pro-consumer mindset really speaks to me for the most part. And him playing random shitty games can be pretty funny.

TotalBiscuit: He's an ass and can be pretty rude. But I can't deny that he's (attempting to be) professional and always tries to make the best videos he can. And the co-optional podcast is nice background filler while I'm playing games.

Jesse Cox: I don't watch him AS often, but when he plays a game I'm interested in I like to watch him. I like how he is easily amused and how he makes his own fun in games.

RageGaming: His overwatch videos are generally pretty interesting. His Isaac videos is what drew me to him at first. And his other random videos are usually entertaining and funny.

SuperBunnyHop/Writing on games: I watch both for the same reason. They make entire essays going in-depth about certain aspects of gaming or games. And it's always interesting to listen to to me.

Basically the NormalBoots members/ex-members. They already mentioned ProJared (and he is my favorite Let's Player), but there is also PeanutButterGamer, SpaceHamster, The Completionist and BrutalMoose (and JonTron, I suppose...)

Legit amazed Youtube gamers are still a thing. You'd think after Pewdiepie cornered the market and routinely poisoned the water to the point 'Youtuber' is a slur, people would have learned their lessons.

They have, otherwise they would had quit.

I really, really enjoy Neebs Gaming for quality entertainment. The past two years their content has become exceptional. They lean more towards a "series" than traditional lets plays with their quality and comedy becoming just miles above other YouTube gamers. Good examples would be their Subnautica series or their Ark series (check out their later stuff in Ark for more cinematic gameplay)

I also enjoy watching JackFrags for his fortnight and Battlefield content and Doom44 since his voice is the best.

I'm kinda mad at a lot of YouTubers right now.

Last week the site implemented a policy where unless you had an annual viewtime of 4000 hours and 100 subscribers you could not be part of the YPP. Alot of bigger YouTubers like Caddicarus, Boogie, Totalbiscuit and Peanutbuttergamer decided to pretty much go "well it doesn't affect me so why should I care?". Pretty much a "fuck you got mine" attitude. Not knowing or caring that when you or your videos are not part of the YPP, youtube will go out of their way to make sure people cannot see your video, removing it from subscription tabs, searches and recommendations. Their response was "it doesn't happen to my stuff so who cares?".

All because the sites biggest name decided to use a dead body for views.

As far as general gaming content goes, I follow quite a bunch of Video Essayists focused on media. Some are focused on gaming, and there are therefore quite a few candidates to go on, but I'll have to go with the always-solid choice of Extra Credits. Since they have been hosted on this site and they have a wikipedia article to their name I don't think they need an introduction by me.
