let me specify with "I'd rather be the one with the shotgun in hand then a pile of decaying scum."

I downloaded the demo and it wouldn't work, so I never got the chance to try it in it's true glory.

I have got to say Dead Rising, you can have some real fun running circles around a zombie with a horse hat stuck on its head.

I'm a Half-Life 2 backer myself. I must say though that Resident Evil's consistent control wrongness is a serious *garg* thing for me (that's bad). There's a fine line between 'slow and rubbish so increase tension' and 'why can you not turn quicker than a truck with one wheel?!'

Zombie Panic source :D

-it is an amazing multiplayer mod of hl2 "using the source engine" its free, unique, and has a really fun community. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Zombie Panic is great, but I've got to disagree with you about the quality of the community. It's really a rather shitty community, often almost as bad as the CS one. And that's not an insult I'd use lightly. I still play it, but you've got to watch out for the griefers, the racists, and the jerks who sing or play music into their mics. I also like Zombie Master, but only 1v1 or 1v2 at warehouse (one of the best survival horror experiences out there).

My vote is for "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" too. What a damn good/fun game. Pretty hard too. Then again most games were back then.

The Half-Life games are great, headcrab zombies ftw.

The scariest zombies I think I've ever seen are the ones that were in Thief: The Dark Project. The sounds they made were so horrifying, and you felt so weak fighting them because you could only kill them with holy water arrows.

Speaking of headcrab zombies does anyone know why they get yellow blood or grow elongated fingers and a mouth in their torso?

I think the blood is supposed to have something to do with the headcrabs saliva getting into the bloodstream. The torso is supposed to be decomposing because, well its supposed to be a zombie. No idea about the nails.

Stubbs The Zombie is the most atmospheric game I've ever played and the humor is brilliant, but the game feels like it was chucked out of the Dev' studio with only 25 percent of the ideas they wanted to put in actually implemented.

Now, it's still good despite that... which says something about it.

I'm backing Dead Rising, Resi and Left4Dead (when it comes out).

To the many people who have been saying they think HL2 is a zombie game, I disagree. Granted, HL2 does have zombies and a zombie level (Ravenholm) but the zombies themselves aren't an intergral part of the plot and aren't the main enemy (that role being reserved to the Combine). Otherwise, we could effectivly call Timesplitters a zombie game because they appear a few times in some levels.

The fast zombies from Half Life 2, the Flood from the Halo series, and the bucket wearing bastards of Dead Rising are amongst my favourites for mass killing.
And the Shadow Temple zombies were really creepy if you played Ocarina of Time when you were 10. Running out into Hyrule Square to see all those creepy mothers.

Agreed. Timesplitters had awesome zombie levels
