Ok, so I love cooking, but I'm also impatient or have somewhere to be. As a result I'm learning more and more recipes that I can cook up really quickly and are really tasty. Just had a nice plate of scrambled eggs on toast the took about 3 minutes to whip up from scratch, that's probably my favourite, delicious and easy. The recipe I use is this http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A105788 (the quick cooking one).

I'm just wondering what yours are, the only requirement is that it isn't a ready meal (it has to be something you actually make, not just reheat) and it takes less than 5 minutes to put together (ok, less than 10 is probably more reasonable).

Who knows, maybe we'll all pick up something new and delicious!

An open pita filled with sliced ham, cottage cheese, and spinach with a cup of yogurt on the side is my go-to quick meal.

I'm lazy and not particularly healthy, so I just like to make bacon and cheese toasties.

Linguine with asiago white sauce, it's about five minutes, depending on the linguine.

The moment I saw the title, I thought of scrambled eggs on toast.

Four slices of toast (with butter), four large eggs......no milk, that's what creates that watery shit in the pan when the eggs are getting to that perfect stage!

EDIT: Also, a bowl of fine egg noodles with sweet chilli sauce amd some sweetcorn and onions stirred through, mmmmmmmm!

If you don't count baking time, then sweet muffins, totally. Quick, easy and takes to any additives from blueberries to cinnamon to chocolate! Its such an easy from-scratch recipe.

Either a quick sandwich, a small chicken salad (planned ahead and made with conveniently pre-cooked chicken) or a smoothie.

:EDIT:
Completely forgot about a scrambled egg and bacon sandwich. Not the healthiest, but filling and oh so delicious.

For breakfast home made chocolate chip waffles. Have to use a flip waffle iron and make your waffle batter with buttermilk. In addition a few sausage links and a cut up strawberry or two.

For lunch, I generally like a nice salad with olives and home made dressing (grey poupon mustard, olive oil + spices) and reheated homeade vegitable beef soup. The soup takes much more then 5 minutes originally but then I store it in the fridge for the whole week and it takes 3 minutes to rehead.

For dinner my favorite 5 minute meal is Schnitzle (sp).....I buy the thinly sliced pork chops, pound them for about 1 minute, dunk them in egg and then a flower/breadcrumb mix, and fry them. Takes bout 5 minutes all together and is very delicious. To be honest though I usually roast some potatoes + apples to go with it that take more like 30 minutes...but the main dish only takes 5:)

I also love to use my slow cooker....it takes 5 minutes to set up a pot roast, chilli, pasta sauce etc...but the food cooks all day. I don't know if that counts as a 5 minute meal or not...but you really only spend 5 minutes cooking so it should:)

Yes what is it with people who feel the need to fuck up scrambled eggs with milk?

OT: Does KFC count? If not microwave mars bar for 30 seconds, repeat with up to ten mars bars (thus five minutes) until you feel sick (for me the 4 mars bars/2 minute mark.

A carrot.

An apple.

Any Sandwich.

Anything on toast. Especially Vegemite toast with fried (one or more of: onion, spinach, tomato, egg, bacon, ham steaks/cubes/slices, cheese (but grilled instead), garlic (doesn't need to be fried).)

Bastardised Miso soup (get miso shiru paste, put in pot with water, sliced shallots (spring onions; the mini leek looking things), chilli flakes, a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of ginger, & 4 chopped button mushrooms (or equivalent volume other mushrooms), tofu optional, then bring to boil & serve)

Can of tuna + avocado + mayonnaise + salt + pepper.

Avocado cut in half, add soya sauce to hole where pit use to be (keep half that the pit stayed in, in a air tight container in the frige).

Pancakes.

Mi Goreng (instant noodles with mi goreng flavouring)

Cook pasta, cook mince, add tinned tomatoes and basil, mix together, eat.

Slice of fresh fish, beat egg, dip fish in egg, dip eggy fish in flour, fry fish, add dill, salt and lemon, eat.

Steak, add salt, put in hot pan, let sit for 30-60 seconds, flip, let sit for 30-60 seconds, remove from pan, let sit on paper towel for 30 seconds, flip onto fresh paper towel, let sit for 30 seconds, put between bread, eat.

Boil water, add 2 eggs and let sit in boiling water for 3 mins, while this is happening toast some bread and butter it, remove eggs, cut bread into strips (soldiers) and remove top of egg, dip soldiers, rediscover childhood happiness, glory, die happy. (tip, warm egg but rolling in through your hands if it's straight from the fridge, or it'll crack once you put it in the water. Eggs should be stored at room temperature anyway unless you live in the tropics.)

Exactly. You want more scrambled egg? Don't pad it out with a random liquid, just because it came from the same fridge, just add another egg!

Need to know how to do it properly.

Obviously they are removed from the wrapper, how long in the microwave?
Eat with knife and fork or stuff it in whole?
Do I start the next one cooking straight away or wait until im finished to start the next one?
Do I have to eat them as quickly as possible or just at a normal pace?

I must know how to do this!

Edit. you said for 30 seconds... other questions still stand.

Step 1: Unwrap place on plate

Step 2: Cut in to pieces (I like it in about four cut vertically (as in four rectangles but almost square)). This is to prevent it exploding in the microwave.

Step 3: Microwave for 30 seconds (depending on microwave and personal preference give or take 10 seconds).

Step 4: Eat, you will probably want a knife and fork/spoon as it is fucking hot. As for whether you put the next one in straight away there are no hard and fast rules id depends on how quickly you want to eat them, but if you start to feel sick seriously consider whether to put another one in.

Step 5: (Optional) Move to UK, go to chip shop that offers the service, buy and consume battered mars bar.

EDIT: As with pace of eating it is as difficult to NOT eat the first one very quickly as it is to eat the third one quickly or in my experience the fifth one at all!

Exactly indeed. I can't remember ever eating scrambled eggs and thinking "this is nice but if only my toast was soggy, damn I should have added milk".

Good point about the same fridge. I won't be adding the following liquids: Milk, Lager, Orange juice, pineapple juice, white wine or hmm... not sure what that is I think I'll just leave it there.
