Favourite Controller?

I got this idea from the 360 controller thread. Which controller do you think is the best, and why? Does it fit your hand just right? Does it have all the right buttons? Does it just look damn cool? Answer away! And yes, Keyboard&Mouse and handheld controls DO count.

For me, it's a tossup between the Wii remote and the Gamecube controller. The Wii remote has so much untapped potential and you can do some pretty amazing things with it. But the Gamecube controller just fits me, I find it lends itself to such smooth game controls. I've been using the GC controller for years and I think my hand has moulded around it. Anybody seen Pure Pwnage where they mime using controllers and stuff with their Micro? I can do that for a GC controller.

The N64 controller, but only if the game in question is GoldenEye.

No controller has ever really "fit" me. I suppose I would say the PlayStation controller before they decided to add triggers.

Back in my day, we called that an SNES controller.

My favorite... hm... I suppose it depends on the game. I really like the Wii-mote in concept, but for most games it just falls apart. There are those rare few though (Metroid Prime 3, No More Heroes) that show what it can really do...

Overall, I'd say my favorite right now is the 360 controller. I like the thumbstick placement and the fact that it has some (but not too much) weight to it.

The N64 Controller with the stub arms (the two prongs on the sides shortened up). Most people say it cramps their hands too much, but it fits my hand perfectly and allows me to reach the buttons quickly and easily. I will say that it was a bit too light and the analog stick was unweildy sometimes, but it was a great controller and still one of my favorite shapes.

Err, didn't the "Xbox hate" thread actually turn into a "I like this controller best" thread?

Eh, anyone this has been done before, I remember because I typed a page and half worth of crap on it.

Link? I did some extensive search-fu and came up with nothing

Keyboard and Mouse is not a controller, and I'm sick of people claiming it is.

I stated in the OP that for the purposes of this discussion KB&M and even the controls on handhelds do count. Anything you interact with to control what happens in the game

That kind that owns an N-Gage and plays it regularly.

On topic, there will always be a special place in my heart for the PS1's controller. I remember quite vividly how sore my hands would get squeezing the boomerang-esque handles of that thing as I faced M. Bison in Street Fighter Alpha 3, or Red Scorpion in Ehrgiez, or any level of Intelligent Qube.

I think the 360 controller gets the most out of its layout. Granted it does have its problems with the unresponsive d-pad, but I think its forgivable.

Hey, man, that game's not easy when you're nine years old. Heck, I doubt I could beat it now.

EDIT: Ho ho, wait. I just got that. Well played, sir, well played. I'd almost forgotten that little soundbite...
