So Escapists what are some of your favourite cover versions of songs?

I really like Feeder's cover of Everybody Hurts by R.E.M I like it as much as the original.

R.E.M do an nice cover of There She Goes Again on the re-issue of Murmur but I can't find that version on youtube.

I like the Pixies cover of Neil Young's Winterlong.

Definitely Land of Confusion by Disturbed. I like it better then the original. :)

Though, sometimes I get flak for that opinion.
As someone who loves the original I gotta say...that was awesome! I think the original music video was better though, I love spitting image too much...

One of my favourites is "Feel Good Inc." by Editors

Well, believe it or not, I actually prefer Unleashed's version of Venom's Countess Bathory over the original. By quite a bit. Not sure why, but yeah.

Also, Vader's version of Mayhem's Freezing Moon is awesome. Not as good as the original (in fact, most people would probably say it's an insult), but it's just very enjoyable for me. I guess because it's just fucking Vader, ya' know?

They would be my favourite covers, I guess.

Skrillex by these guys.

I was thinking about figuring out how to do this song as an instrumental, then I saw some assholes already did it.
Check out the bassist using 'hot hands', fucking epic.

The Vandals cover of Summer Lovin', it's catchy, energetic and they've changed the lyrics to make it really juvenile.

I like the Alien Ant Farm version of 'Smooth Criminal' more than the Micheal Jackson (original) version.

I have no idea how we've made it thus far without someone mentioning it, but
Tori Amos's 'cover' Raining Blood. It is the absolute creepiest song I've ever heard. And it's amazing.
Hell, any of her covers. So much as they can be called covers, anyways. She changes the perspective on a lot of them, but still. Awesome music.

Enjoy the Silence by Lacuna Coil
Losing my Religion also by Lacuna Coil
Running up that Hill by Placebo

and one I don't really like admitting but the Girls Aloud cover of Teenage Dirt Bag

those are the four I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm disappointed that it took 23 posts before somebody posted this one. Seriously, Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower is the definitive example of covers that are better than the original.
