Rupees, Gil, Dollars, Donkey Kong's Banana Coins. There's so much to choose from.

I guess you just can't go wrong with good old space credits (as seen in any space game/movie).

Either that or Pirate Treasure. Lovely, sparkling pirate treasure...

Edit: Quoted from the Zelda wiki:
Rupees are the main unit of currency in the Legend of Zelda series and are obtained primarily by defeating enemies, by cutting tall grass or bushes, or from Treasure Chests. They are most often used to purchase items from shops, but are also used for admission to certain mini-games.
Some people say rupie's to avoid confusion with the Indian currency but I say fuck it, because you all know what I'm talking about.

The Zenny, from Breath of Fire. Nothing special about it. Just really fun to say.

I've always been a fan of caps from Fallout.

Beyond that Kongbucks from Snow Crash.

Credits. Because it's so easy to get people to use them. Watch and learn.

I...uh...huh...on second thought, let's go with Bison Dollars. Those are valuable, right?

Wait wait wait...they aren't established yet??? The heck with that, I'm just gonna go with the Elder Scrolls' "Septims", just because they have a nice sound to them.

Orens from The Witcher. Mostly because 'Oren' means ears in Dutch. Which makes it sound like the world's currency is ears to me. :p

Daggerfall gold. You could drown if you were too rich.

There's also meat in Kingdom of Loathing.

But my favorite has to be Fragments of the Old World, from Bastion.

Munny from Kingdom Hearts, just because it's such a silly name.

Non-game example I would have to go with Boondollars from Homestuck. Mostly because they just explode out of the enemies killed.

Either bottlecaps from the Fallout series or Pre-War MGR's (Military Grade Rounds) from the Metro Series.

I like the gold from Adventure Quest, not because it's cool on its own, but because of their wealth distribution system. The one ranger girl is quite proud of how she steals from people and gives money to monsters.

How do you think this dumb son of a ***** got 200 bucks?

Gil was one of the first fictional currencies I ran across that I have a distinct memory of, so it holds a special place in my heart.
I also like any sort of "credits", because it gives a very universal feeling.

Honorable mention goes to ISK from EVE Online. I love how the EVE economy has a life of its own at this point, where everyone can influence it if they so desire.

Caps from Fallout because they're actually original, not just 'credits' or 'dollars' or any word that's just shoved in to mean money. Either that or 'Zenny' from Monster Hunter, because it's just such a strange word.

That's also the currency in Dragon Ball.

OT: I'mma go with caps from Fallout. They make me feel childishly gleeful every time I pop the top off a beer, or the rare glass bottles of coke I sometimes get.

Hell, I've gone to the trouble of finding an opener that doesn't dent the caps.

I like caps from the Fallout series, mostly because its such a useless item in our world, but its money to them. I also like the septims from the Elder Scrolls games, and PokeDollars mostly because of the fact that if you lose you throw a wad of money at you opponent and run away, especially funny when losing to a wild pokemon.

I was gonna say this. It's cool other people have heard of the games, too. Capcom used the Zenny in Megaman Legends, as well. Although, as I recall, they were simply called Zeny then. Still, I'll go with Zen(n)y.
