My favorite genre is probably fps, because at this point in time it's really the only pick up and play (go online, play for half hour, quit) genre. I do like MMO's, RPG's and Strategy games, but overall fps will always have a place in my heart, having grown up in the Duke Nukem/Half Life/Goldeneye generation =].

I would have to say stealth. I like the idea of having to avoid confrontations instead of going guns blazing. It is normally quite smart, shame the only really GREAT stealth series is MGS though. :/

I like FPS and RPG. FPS are great to just pick up and shoot something when you're bored but some of my favourite game experiences are from RPGs.

Only things I really don't like are RTS.

RPG.

They tell the best stories, and can do it while immersing you in it like no other genre. Plus it has so much more to playing it than FPS games for example. Now I like any genre, including FPS, but taking an example of a game I liked, say COD4, I know that I just did the exact same thing again and again and again. Put my first person gun crosshair in line with the enemy and pulled the trigger. I suppose I should be impressed that they are able to stretch that repetition out for the entire game, but despite the fact that I still enjoyed it, Im not at all impressed.

RPGs, but Western RPGs.
I find that JRPGs have the most pretentious storylines, and bland, 2D characters. If you like JRPGs, that's fine. There is obviously a market for them, but I personally am not a fan.

Out of the Western RPGs, I'd say CRPGs are my absolute favourite. CRPGs being Canadian RPGs (Read: Bioware). Bioware is my favourite developer, and, for me, makes the best RPGs on the market. I love 'em.

Beyond that, I enjoy anything that's fun. If it's RTS, FPS, Sim, whatever.
If I'm having fun, I'll play it.

Not a fan of RPGs anymore. Aside from the bitterly misleading title of the genre, most of them are the same stupid cookie-cutter story. Been here done/read/shot that, woopdy f'n doo.

Stealth, FPS, and Platformers. Anything that doesn't need actual talent to play but absolutely requires it to play good, as opposed to say RPGs where all you do is buy the biggest sword and stock up on potions. Any game genre where I feel I can outwit the AI or other players is a good game genre to me.

Also f- MSG. They've gotten so god damned plot diluted I've given up on it. What those guys should do is stop making games and start making movies. Their last game starts off with a segment long enough to be a friggen half-hour episode.

The one genre to rule them all though, for me? Stealth as already mentioned. FPS-Stealth, Platformer-Stealth, Stealth-Stealth, I dont care, I love it all. Those games where killing is 99.5% unrequired and 100% gorey as all hell get top billing. Negative points for Duke Nukem sized weapon selections and needing to kill people to unlock shit.

RPG's and first person shooters. RPG's like Mass Effect specifically for the story and characters, shooters like Bioshock for the exploration aspects and of course for story and action woven together I go with Halo. Mentioned it again.

I actually think RPGs are repetitive if you put it like that, especially the one's with a turn-based combat system. In FPS games, you need skill to hit someone in the head (on higher difficulties, of course). In RPGs, it's all about stats, not skill. If your stats are high enough and you have the right abilities, every fight is the same.

Action games baby. Swords and all sorts of medieval weaponry to chop up some demons, hell yeah.
