Mana Khemia for the PS2, BEST GAME EVER.

My first was Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, and I loved it when I was 5. It was also the first game I played to completion.

Mana Khemia is amazing. That game is so much fun.

My top three in no particular order are Ar Tonelico, Mana Khemia, or Valkyria Chronicles

Radiata Stories.

Really? I returned that to get Star Ocean: Till The End of Time. Y'know, a game with a GOOD battle system.

My personal favorite? Probably Final Fantasy VIII, but most of my favoerite games are JRPGs, so my preference for that is marginal.

It's sort of a quirky game but I'm also a quirky person, so we sort of matched up well...I also have TtEoT, but could never really get into it...

Fire Emblem. Easily. I REALLY enjoy that game.

It just has this feel I really like. The characters are excellent too. My favorite is Soren.

First one to pop into my head? Digimon world 3. I've never been fond of JRPGs but I really liked the battle and digivolve systems in it.

Magna Carta is another one that comes into my head. although it's not a turn based JRPG I believe it can still qualify due to a good linear story that kept me playing.

Also, it's got quite a heart-wrenching story when you boil it down to it's essence...it's about a guy who leaves everything behind to follow his gal OR let's his love go to fight for his people...kind of a "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't' story.

Great soundtrack, complicated battle system, great soundtrack, a really good storyline, great soundtrack, a nice difficulty curve, a great soundtrack, interesting characters, a great soundtrack, aaaand... yeah...

I like to play JRPGs more for the story and characters than the actual gameplay. With that said, Fianl Fantasy 6 is my favorite, with Chrono Cross being the second.

Well up to now it's Persona 3 FES, though I DO have Persona 4 but I'd rather leave that until I've completed FES because I know the battle system is completely improved and I don't want to go back and play FES going "WHY CAN'T YOU BE LIKE THAT ONE!" which coincidentally P3P did but took out The Answer story.

Persona 3 and 4, full-stop. Good story, characters I co9uld really care about, and NO WHINING EMO TWITS.

Ok am sorry i gotta cut in here. I love persona but... wasint that the majority of the characters? Just whining ad complaining. Like Persona 3 protaginist was the sterotypical emo kid. The persona series is FULL of this as you called them "Emo Twits" I dont care i honestly think in most JRPGS theres always many reasons why the characters are emo. Like i recently replayed Persona 4. Just so much whining.

Kanji: just shut up everyone am not like that okay! am also gonna hide how am good at making dolls and continue to not talk to anyone with my internal struggle about my other me. So instead i'll just get mad and take it out on everybody.

You know what enough. The whole persona series is usually about a bunch of teens going through there problems and crying about it. Its always well done but you saying theres no whining emo people is the opposite. Thats all persona is its well written emo characters but there all emo.

Who could forget the scene where everybody just whines saying its all my fault this happened cry cry.

I think i've made my point.

OP: Hard question. First JRPG was FF1 Jap import. My favorite? Probably FFXIII. Am an odd guy. I imported every game yet my favorite of all time is XIII.

EDIT: Oh my god i didn't even begin to mention Naoto and how much she whines and complains.

And to you, I say this:

The P3 protagonist was a blank slate. Sure, he looked like an emo, but he was pretty much whatever you wanted him to be, i.e., he's only emo if you play him as one.

The P4 cast members weren't emo, just for the fact that they actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS. Yes, they whine and moan about it, but they eventually move on and fix their problems, albeit with the protagonist's help.

Plus, their problems are, you know. Real. They're not blowing them out of proportion, and as a matter of fact, you kind of have to prod and poke around to get them to reveal their problems.

I hate most JRPGs I've played. Except Phantasy Star IV. I loved that one. So it's my favorite.
