You sir, have an exceptional taste in music. I was planning to write down a list of bands I like, but no need, I can just quote you and that's pretty much what I would have written.

Opeth
Obscura
Between the Buried and Me

Anyone not consider Nightwish metal? I really just don't consider them to be, though I see a few people here who have them listed as such.

My local record store files them under Metal. Good enough for me.

I love me some Black Sabbath, the original metal band, though aside from that I'm not a big metal listener.

Opeth
TYR
Amon Amarth
Mayhem
Immortal
Alestorm
Metallica
Slayer
Dethklok

I like a whole lot more, but this is really what I listen to on a constant basis. Black metal, death metal/melodeath, and folk metal are my go to sub-genres.

I listen to Black Sabbath and Metallica very often. I find they have a very interesting style, very bad ass with a little horror and that they wrote the most powerful melody's out of the lot.

My top three:

- Iron Maiden
- Metallica
- Avenged Sevenfold

But also healthy helpings of:

- Led Zeppelin
- Ozzy/Black Sabbath
- Dethklok
- Alestorm
- Bullet for my Valentine

And occasional songs by:

- Slayer
- Coheed and Cambria
- Dream Theater
- Dragon Force
- Disturbed
- Megadeth
- Atreyu

Probably a lot of other stuff I'm forgetting (doing this off the top of my head)

Id probably have to go with Anthrax
i have to admit i didn't really care about Anthrax at all in the beginning but it ended up being one of my most favorite bands of all, if not the most listened to one.

And probably Megadeth, i fucking love Megadeth.

but i have to admit it was hard coming up with the best i usually just listening to anything metal or not

I once found a Britney Spears CD in the Metal section at my store. That isn't really enough to satisfy me. Their music seems more like hard rock than actual metal.

Welcome, Newb! I recommend learning to use the Search Bar before posting a thread that has been done every week.

OT: Mastodon, High on Fire, Kalmah, Sleep, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, Neurosis, and a ton others are all good.
