The 360 controller is my personal favorite.
I grew up with the PS1 and PS2 controllers, and now own a PS3 & a 360.

The 360 controller is smooth, accurate and has a perfect button layout.
I dislike the PS3 controller for it's springy convex triggers and lack of weight.

I would have said the Dualshock controllers for the ps3, but i cant stand those soft shoulder triggers...

So I would have to say the 360. Nothing innovative, but it is easy to use and very comfortable to hold.

I use, prefer, and trust only company-made 1st party controllers. I've literally ran through something like 10 Playstation 2 controllers and two X-Box 360 controllers, but the ones that came with the console lasted for years.

Particularly, one controller I had for the PS2 that I had since I bought the console, affectionetly called "The Veteran" it was busted open, the wire was stripped, the analog sticks lost all the rubber on them, and it still functioned perfectly for about six years. Its retired now, because the shoulder buttons are getting soft.

But give me a MadCatz controller or a Pelican and me (or my brothers) will wear it down in a matter of weeks.

i've not used the 360 controller from more than, maybe 4 hours in total, but it feels more comfortable to use than the sixaxis PS3 controller that i own... but it did take me a while to get used to it, after R:FoM and HL2 on PS3, then switching to co-op Halo3 on 360... my fingers and thumbs got all confused!

New 360 one, ripped off ps2 one with bumper and triggers but i like the size and design more.
Agreed, I owned both previous playstation consoles and I loved the controllers, then I got an xbox 360 and it just seemed more clunky (the good kind of clunky). when I grip a ps2 controller now it's like my hands have gotten bigger, and I can't comfortably sit with that kind of controller for an extended period of time.

EDIT: oh, and the N64 controller was great for GoldenEye "co-op" (2 people using one controller)

Well, if we're dabbling with worst, can I mention the horrors of the Jaguar? It was like an old NES controller , filled with lead, then nailed to a 1980s calculator, with a massive black numberpad, honestly, it was horrible.

Didn't help that the Atari Jaguar had all of about 2 good games, too.

I still bought one just to own Tempest 2000 tho, legendary stuff.

My favorite conventional controller is the Gamecube. I've written a piece on that already on the forums (search if you're actually interested), so I won't repeat my reasons here. I'm still a sucker for [W][A][D] + Mouse, though.

360 just fits so well in my hands....The dualshock 2s were nice though, mostly because thats what I grew up on.
Im pretty new to pc gaming, so aiming with a mouse is hard for me.

Probably the Steel Battalion controller. [http://www.the-nextlevel.com/features/developers/production-studio-4/steel-battalion-controller.jpg]
Otherwise? XBox 360. It's comfortable, and the buttons are in close enough to hit them without stretching. (I'm looking at YOU, nintendo 64!)

the 360 controller, perfect for everyone, especially us ham handed people with bigger hands. the ps3 controller is too light and i feel that i might break it if i tap triangle too much towards the end of MGS4.

the 360 has some girth to it and feels more sturdy. like a mans controller.

I don't see why everyone hates the Wiimote. I like it. It's innovative and I love the num-chucks.

My favourite is the xbox controller. It's so comfortable. The Play Station ones were hurtful. I couldn't use them for ages.

Keyboard and mouse isn't a controller :p

I suggest that anyone claiming that the 360 sticks are responsive please go play a fighting game like Soul Calibur 4 on it and then go play it on a DS3 or Sixaxis or DS2. Those sticks are not more accurate. The two things they did get right were the triggers and the overall contour of the controller.
