MacDonald's french fries taste half life might be 5 seconds, their actual half life in nature is something different entirely.
Some guys tested MacDonald's products against homemade stuff. To wit:

The homemade fries and burgers were all rotted to bits in a couple days. The Mac burgers lasted something like a month. The Mac fries looked exactly the same as when they were bought three months after purchase. No fungal growths, no rot, like the things are made of plastic. Sadly, an intern threw the test subjects away...
