If there's any company that I'm fanboyish about, than it's definitely Square-Enix. I really can't explain it, I guess it's like one of those Nintendo effects people have for the games of their childhood.
But I'm not blind to the fuck-ups of SE (Looking at you, FFXIV).
And honestly, I'm optimistic about FFXIII-2. At least I'd like to be.
My guess is that all the "negative" backlash from FFXIII, as in the "too linear" and "no towns" got to them and now they're trying to make a FFXIII that accounts for the previous mistakes.
P.S.: Fang better fuckin be in FFXIII-2.

Anyway, I love FF13. I actually like the characters, even (gasp!) Hope. I love the combat, the Paradigm system is innovative and useful enough to help you out when you need help without making the entire thing too easy (I have a fairly powerful party and still die in battle on occasion...), and is a great blend of the ATB system from FFX-2 and the more real time system from FF12. The plot is actually pretty decent, even if you do need to read the datalogs to get the full story. It's hardly a massive concern having to read a datalog every so often, you only need it for the backstory really, which is easy to figure out from dialogue and events in the game anyway.
Overall, to me, FF13 is a great game and a worthy addition to the Final Fantasy series. So I'm pretty pleased that a sequel may be on the horizon. The only thing that would make me happier now regarding the series is if Square Enix turn around and announce that the other games in the Fabula Nova Crystalis set will be released multi-platfrom like FF13 was. I still think it's unfair as an Xbox owner I should only be able to play one of the games, after all, whereas PS3 owners get all of them...

The only thing I liked about FF13 was the battle system,Sazh and Lightning calling out Snow for the tool he was.
I find that FF XIII is good, not great. I haven't completed it yet, so I can't give it a full analysis. What I do know is that the start is complete shit, because none of the characters start out as being likable.
Lightning- she's a complete *****
Sazh- bland and genaric
Snow- arrogant idiot
Hope- seemed likable at the start, but started over reacting to things
Vanille- cookey to the extreme. She seems like a complete idiot, but she says some intelligent things that completely threw me
Fang- She, unfortunately, isn't in the beginning. She is the only character I liked on a first impression, and haven't stopped.
Thankfully though, all the starting characters improve.
Also the use of music in the sad scenes in terrible. The game is basically yelling at you THIS IS A SAD SCENE OKAY! YOU SHOULD BE CRYING! I can't believe that I never saw anybody call FFXIII out on this.

They already did, it's called Dragon Quest Swords and it's actually quite fun. A little too short though.Xzi said:

How many sequels can they add to a sequel? And why to the sequel- sequels have more to do with the last sequel than the sequels have to do with each- JUST MAKE NEW IP ALREADY! Why am I a fan of this forsaken franchise?
