Well, on Saturday I bought a couple of games off Steam. Several things went wrong.


First wrong was that my dad accidentally (He has Paypal not me, but I still payed for it) put the games on HIS account that he hasn't used for over 6 months. So now 4 games are on another account, from which is a decent inconvenience.

Secondly, out of no where my internet hit the shitter. It's a WiFi in a rural area, so no cables running to houses here. We had an ice storm, then we had lots of snow. That screws up the Wifi ALOT. Now for reasons unknown it just plains sucks. As such my games are taking so long to download that it's cringe worthy.

Problem being is that almost all of my games are ON steam, and if you launch a game then the downloading stops! The FRIG!

Ugh, sorry I'm just freaken annoyed and needed to vent. >_>

Oh yeah, and the other two (Torchlight and KillingFloor) were already downloaded due to guest pass. But I can't play them (as I mentioned) because if I do the downloading stops!

Power went off and now all of my downloads are zero. My Reaction was similar to Angry German kid.

I'm going to go sulk in a corner right now.

The moral here is: don't use WiFi

It's the only option.

WiFi or nothing.

It's worst because I used to be on Fibre optics not too long ago, before I moved. I'd trade the mansion for the good ol' Fibre optics any day... Q.Q

It's really not all that good. I can generally buy the games in shops for (usually) around the same price, and without this sort of complications.

omg, 2 bytes? give up... you won't be done for an age... my calculations indicate... the average game will be downloaded in a month at that speed going non-stop.

so basically, fix yo internet. only thing you can do. otherwise give up and order the hard copy off play.com or something, it'll be faster regardless.

Thankfully, I have cable and can get 800 KB/s from Steam.

Give up on downloading and spend your time taking a serious look at how to get a better internet speed. Perform speed tests, forward ports, halt unnecessary processes and even have a chat with your ISP, all of them can help get you better internet speeds. I would say the obvious "Don't fucking use WiFi" but you've already mentioned that you don't have a choice.
