Yeah, I know. But the fact that it is a fictional character would call to mind questions about them being basically a cardboard cutout, and thus I'd be quite a bit unsettled.

Then again, I'm pretty sure that girls in general just find my affection creepy (comes with being a creepy looking guy: pale, short, dark circles under eyes etc), so I refuse to develop romantic feelings for anyone. Makes people think I'm asexual.

Yeah, but like I said, the idea is "If wasn't fictional and was in fact a real flesh and blood human being (or equivalent)..." etc. etc.
Having fantasies is basically harmless as long as you don't take it too far by, say, marrying your Japanese Love pillow. No, I still can't get over that one.

Yes she can be a ***** but never an intolerable *****, and most importantly she's not above apologizing for being a ***** to you if and when she changes her mind about how she feels about you, and that's one thing that I've never seen a real live person do.

She's a robot alien who's shy quite, and loves to read books, so she's a lot like me.
And if you've seen The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya you'll know that she has a tendency to [spoiler spoiler spoiler] which I find to be a desirable quality in a mate. True a real person will have how many years' worth of memories, but as with the author/creator of a character, you have only as much to surmise their character as what they tell you...

Haydee for her emotional frailty, Balalaika for her total badassness (and sorry, but had to include her for the facial scar), though I'd also include the Major from GitS:SAC in there if weren't for the fact that she's a cyborg, Balsa for doggedness and mental compartmentalisation ("I'm a tiger!" etc. very good episode that one), and Cassandra because that's the way I roll... let's just say I'm drawn to tragic/frail beauty... *shrug*

My male friend has a mancrush on Solaire from Dark Souls. I could see why, he had a very BRIGHT personality (pun in case you've played the game).

I think that's one of my major gripes with anime/manga style. I know there are some people that are attractive AND have good personalities, but when all the shy nerdy girls look the same as the popular idiot girls except for the bosom size(sometimes) and hair style......yeaaaa......I just can't ignore my brain to get past it. I mean, they DO need to sell their show...and we know japan.....

There isn't enough variation in facial features because everyone chooses to draw the same. Its lazy! I hate lazy animation with a goddam passion, and anime is a big offender. They sacrifice too much animation for the same overly complicated and static environments. You know why people like shows over books? ANIMATION.

I think you're generalizing a bit my friend. I love anime and manga, but not all of it has those problems (but quite a bit of it does). QUALITY and Sameface are indeed quite annoying.

Anna from Tachyon: The Fringe. I can safely say it's not physical because you never actually see what she looks like. However, from the dialogue in the game, she comes across as personable, idealistic yet realistic, caring, and generally a nice person.

Anyway out of Motoko (Ghost in the Shell) Scanty (Panty and Stocking) or Nico Robin (One Piece) I probably would go with Nico Robin especially in her 5 years time skip form.

Yes I know there is no intimacy but I would still date her anyway. I mean what the worse can happen? The biggest tease on a date ever?

Right off the bat: Merrill from Dragon Age 2. Yeah, she practices blood magic and is in denial about the true nature of demons, but between how socially awkward she is and her bizarre outlook on little details ("Why do you think they call it a brothel? Do you think it involves broth?"), she's just adorable!
