So basically, I'm a massive fidgeter. Even whilst typing this my leg's twitching cause my hands aren't sufficiently occupied. I'll play with anything that's lying around: for example, I found this paper fastener thing this morning and I've been just flipping it around in my hands for hours. It only occurred to me a few seconds ago that I don't know where it came from.

So, people of the Escapist, are your hands possessed by the need to interact with the world? Or can you just sit still contentedly?

I can sit there without fidgeting quite easily, but most of my friends all start drumming their fingers on their legs and it's really rather annoying ;_;

I'm currently tapping the carpet underneath my chair with my big toes to the tune of "Amazing Grace". When my hands are free I use those instead.

So yes, I fidget; often not with other objects though (not since I broke my pencil chewing habit). Usually just with my own body. I mean, you know, like tapping my hands or something, not, uh, 'fidgeting' with myself.

Well, as I read your post I realised I was tapping a beat on my chin with my left hand.
That's a fairly normal occurrence for me.

And now my right leg is twitching.

Guess that says it all really.

Yes they are. That's why I always have a pen on the table next to my PC, so I can play with it when I'm not doing something with my hands. And when I go out, I like to keep my hands in my pockets. And no, it's not for fiddling with anything, but because it doesn't feel right to just keep my hands free and not doing anything.

I always practise my dramatic hand/arm movements when my hands are unoccupied, you never know when you need to be dramatic... And I will be prepared when that day comes.

I CAN sit still, but I feel more comfortable if I'm tapping my foot, or fidgeting with something.

I am a frequent fidgeter as well. I find that a Rubik's cube helps to keep my hands busy and is slightly less annoying to the people around me.

... 'mess'?

OT: I'm fairly good at keeping my hands still. However, once I have access to a pen (or two), I will twirl them around the fingers (basically like Boris from Goldeneye only faster and without the clicking) of either my left hand, or both hands (two pens as applicable).

mess, as in fidle with it, move it, position it in the exact right spot, or like waht you said with a pen, or pick at/ peel labels. As in messing with something. as in " Hey you! Don't mess with that bomb!"

My hands and feets will almost always do something. If they are for some reason, not doing anything, I will whistle a tune, or at least think of a tune. Because if I don't occupy my mind, I will go a bit crazy, and we don't want that...

Apologies, but for one reason or another, I had Pyro in mind... a slightly manic grin on one's face and a zippo...

...

[sub][sub][sub]... sorry...[/sub][/sub][/sub]

OT, again, at times I have to stop myself from miming the recurve/compound draw technique, nocking the arrow and all (archery).

I'm not an obsessive fidgeter, but my hands almost always seem to be doing something - I'd assume that counts. I don't usually find myself sitting absolutely still.
