Holy Molly it the final one was hard. Fantasy/Sci-fi game giants Blizzard versus Valve? Well, it was tough but Bioware emerged victorious.

Yup, you can go back to your bracket and make as many changes you like through the 13th. Just click on the match-up and the pop-up box will appear.

The only real competition is between North and East whoever wins between Blizzard and Bioware is going to win it all. My vote is for Bioware, Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 in the same year I mean come on.

...Seriously!?
That was my thought... as far as recent innovation Rovio deserves the win over Square Enix, but since people's voting will be based on a companies entire catalog Square Enix will take it hands down.
How does remaking a game I've played on <a href=http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/494237>flash websites and repackaging it for the phone qualify as "recent innovation"? It's a 2-D Boomblox. When you take a Wii game and downgrade it, you get knocked out in the first round.

Let's not rule out the power of Starcraft 2 plus Warcraft: Cataclysm. I agree that the final fight will involve at least one of these devs.

Square Enix has done little to make recent games different than past ones and why should they since they still sell like hotcakes. I'm not saying that I particularly like Rovio or that their games are fantastic, but they have made the single most successful game for iPhones (and since every other smartphone platform) because they chose to innovate with gameplay while plenty of others were trying to shoehorn dpads onto touchscreens. Does this make Rovio a fantastic developer? Perhaps not, but it's developers like this that innovate that move the industry forward.

I reckon it's Blizzards year this year, I mean you can't really argue from two strong releases (Starcraft 2 and Cataclysm), especially from Blizzard, who I think average one every two years.

Valve on the other hand has only really Portal 2 coming up, and unfortunatly I'm not a big fan of what they did with TF2 (only with the store and the fact that crate keys have to be bought.

Skyrim gives Bethesa a strong agruement too, even if we've only seen two trailers.

Also do my eyes decieve me? Or did you guys actually leave out Infinity Ward?

Fill Out Your March Mayhem: Developers' Showdown Bracket Today

March Mayhem: Developers' Showdown is back, so fill out your bracket for a chance at one of multiple gaming laptops thanks to our sponsor, Alienware!

March Mayhem: Developers' Showdown is an exclusive event on The Escapist where the top 64 game developers go head-to-head in an elimination style tournament to see who comes out on top. Who makes the call on which developers make it to the next round? People like you from around the world! Developers will be relying on your votes to progress through the tournament and take home the March Mayhem title. Last year, the Final Round brought Valve a victory over a very difficult match-up against BioWare. From upsets to blowouts, nobody knows what will happen this year, but we guarantee it will be fun to watch and participate!

This year, Alienware is our sponsor and they are giving out some amazing gaming laptops as prizes! There are multiple ways to enter but you get 25 entries just for filling out your own bracket. Don't worry, we have plenty of information to help you make your decision. To begin filling out your bracket register here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/global/tournaments/mybracket/5] or or [fblogin]Sign In with Facebook[/fblogin], then click the link above.

For all new members of The Escapist, there are current community members standing by in this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/539.262433-Welcome-to-The-Escapist-Community-Members-are-Standing-by-to-Help-You-Click-Here] to answer any questions you may have or show you what The Escapist has to offer. After all, March Mayhem is fun but only a small part of why current community members call The Escapist their online home.

For all of the rules of March Mayhem, visit the main March Mayhem: Developers' Showdown page by clicking here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/global/tournaments/rules/5]. Good luck!

Some of these choices were really hard but I want to thank you and Alienware for finally making a contest that those of us outside of the US can enter.
You are welcome! We wanted to make sure an international event had international prizes and Alienware was all about it. We are also giving prizes out to the development studios who come in 1st through 4th as well. Those are directly through The Escapist though (free ad campaigns).
How do you pick a winner? Do you just select a name at random or do you pick the ones who have voted the most?
It's completely random BUT the more times you vote and tweet, the more entries you get. You get 25 entries just from filling out the bracket and then 10 more from liking out Facebook page. So, we throw all of those into pool and start picking winners.
Another question: How do you decide which developer will face off against which in the first round?
Is that also completely random or do you have some kind of seeding-system?

Oh, wait! You divide them into North, South, East and West right? But how do you determine which cardinal direction foreign developers have?

I'll be honest, I don't even know half of the companies listed in this. When choosing, I always just ended up picking either A) The one I'd heard of or if that failed plan B) Pick the one with the better logo and if that failed, C) Whomever was on top if the bracket was heads, bottom was tails and I flipped a coin...

In the end, I have it down to Square Enix Vs. Valve, with Valve coming out on top. We'll see how this works out..

The worst one for me was Nintendo Vs. Valve, In the end, it went coin toss..

I create my own criteria to pick them, and I ended up with Capcom...

Sorry Mojang, I love your game, but you only churn one (awesome) game, if your second game is also awesome then I'll reconsider it next year.
