In defense of people who don't like the Bronies: The generalization that people have towards them, the one where they assume all Bronies are loud mouthed fans who bring up the subject everywhere and at every time, is obviously because only the some of the fan base is like that so a shared negative opinion is formed at the whole group. It's not fair to say all of the fans of the show are like that, so Brony Haters shouldn't be so hateful, but then again it's also not fair to say they have no base in their anger. I have seen the entire first season of the show and it wasn't for me. I don't like it, but I don't hate people that like it. But that being said I wish the over zealous fans would keep the love for it more laid back, for the sake of people who don't really want to know and for the sake of their fellow fan's reputations.
I don't think everyone who 'hates bronies' really does hate all of them. Personally, I consider a 'brony' to be the more obnoxious members of the group who do try to force it into pretty much everything. Everyone who simply enjoys the show, even if they have a strong affection for it without acting as the way mentioned above, are simply people who enjoy the show My Little Pony. The latter includes myself to a degree. That may be because I think Brony is one of the worst names for a fanbase ever though.
The point about there being much worse fanbases is absolutely true. I know that through experience, and know the feeling of having a lot of people hate a group I technically belong to because the loudest/most well known are normally the worst. It does hurt the reputation as a whole. Which is made even worse then, no matter what's really going on, most who really belong to the group are people who quietly enjoy it with themselves and others with similar interests.
But I think the reason there's so many people who don't like and are sick of it is because of just how widespread it is. During a period of time a good portion of the internet became obsessed with the show. It spread like a meme, to the point where people were bringing it into a lot of things where it didn't neccessarily belong in the annoying/loving fan way. That has died down now of course. But the number of people who were just exploding about it is something that will follow it for it's entire life, both negitvely and positively.
The same thing happened with Skyrim for me, with the difference being Skyrim isn't something many people would be ashamed to watch/play (not that I'm saying anyone
should for watching MlP, just that some will). When Skyrim was released, it was something people were bringing up all the time. Memes formed and were thrown into pretty much everything. And it ended up killing the experience for me.
