4: The room. There is absolutely no redeeming quality about this film. Its not a good film. Its not a profitable film, Its not a serious film, and it most certainly cannot be viewed as a funny film. Its just a never ending stream of bad acting and awkward.
Have you seen it in one of those public showings they put together? They do the whole Rocky Horror added commentary type thing and Tommy Wiseau shows up to a lot of the bigger ones. The movie is terrible and I would never just sit down and watch it, but the showings add a lot to it.

Anyway, I have to give a nod to Australia starring the ever terrible Hugh Jackman. A meandering, nonsensical plot, plenty of off-the-cuff racism, viciously annoying child actors, a mind-numbing three hour run time, and again, Hugh Jackman. Absolutely devoid of merit.

I also managed to get through a whole two minutes of A Serbian Film

Napoleon Dynamite. As aptly put by the only review about it I remember, it felt like they were trying to market the film to a group they spent most of their time mocking. For a more personal (and possibly overanalytical) reaction: They were trying to capture the essence of Death of a Salesman but failed to understand the struggle that made the Loman family so compelling. Lacking that, Napoleon Dynamite instead opted for a weak narrative lacking both an arching theme and the social criticism of Miller's production.
Are you insane?

Where's all this hate for ND coming from? It's still one of my favorite films. It's sweet, heartwarming, and hilarious.

Also, comparing ND to Death of a Salesman is like comparing Legally Blonde to The Glass Menagerie: it's retarded.

I only regret watching City of Angels. For my defense, I was forced to watch it.

Knowing: It had by far the worst ending I have ever seen in a movie. The start of the movie was a little interesting but it got so much worse as it went on. My friend was enjoying the movie somehow until the ending when he stood up and shouted "What kind of shitty ending is this!?" and pretty much everyone in the theater were thinking the same. Really wish I never spent the whatever I paid to go see it.

A) I found the central conflict lacking, the characterization weak, the jokes unfunny, and the movie's attempt at storytelling to be at odds with its attempts at comedy[footnote]more to the point, it felt like it wanted us to empathize with the protagonists but put more effort into mocking them than developing them[/footnote]. If you disagree and feel the need to voice disagreement, I'll thank you very much for stating your reasons rather than simply calling me 'insane' for holding a contrary opinion.

B) Perhaps I should clarify. I was not making a direct comparison of the two. As you noted, on their own you might as well try to compare Jackass to West Side Story. What I was trying to convey was that it felt like Napoleon Dynamite was trying to be Death of a Salesman but didn't understand what it needed to capture to succeed in its apparent goal. I felt that they put a great deal of effort into trying to make the protagonists seem as pathetic as Willy Loman, but didn't understand that a pathetic nature alone does not make a character compelling. Willy as a character is compelling because of how his nature clashes with his self-image and how both relate to the American Dream. Napoleon, on the other hand...is pathetic, knows it or doesn't care, and the story doesn't go anywhere with any of that. It's simply a given. In essence, it felt like ND was trying to tell a similar narrative but didn't try to understand the very tale they were using as a base. I hope that clarifies things.

My friends: "Come on, Napoleon Dynamite is SO funny!"

Me, after barely surviving the 3 hours of excruciating boredom known to others as Napoleon Dynamite: "No. It isn't."

See, Napoleon Dynamite wasn't bad in the sense that it was the sort of thing that made you feel stupid/uncomfortable/grossed out while watching it (though I did feel a bit stupid for being talked into it). It's the sort of bad where it's just so blatantly unremarkable that it is simply impossible to understand its existence. There was not one funny line or even any sort of memorable quote (good or bad) in the entire movie. It was like a day at school almost. Dull, unremarkable, boring, and the sort of thing you just don't remember after a day.

Prometheus.

I love the Alien franchise. Prometheus was pure drivel, and bad enough to warrant a wish from me that I never saw it.

Bounty Hunters starring trish stratus. Dad bought it because it had a pretty woman on the cover. Take TNA quality women's wrestling, add in stupid protagonists, then put in generic virtuous bounty hunter plot. God it sucked.

It's boring, stupid, the main character is a sadsack whiner you want to punch bloody for sheer retardation (and whose voice causes one to wish he'd grate his face off with a carrot peeler just to have it over with), his older brother is a gross quasi-pedophile, both of them abuse animals, and those are just the ones I can recall off the top of my head.

Does it count if we were forced to watch it?

If it can... Wall Street, had to watch it for a film class and man was it boring. Practically nothing but the jargon they use when discussing stock exchange so I was left scratching my head the entire time. The acting was also pretty bland (though Martin Sheen did pretty well. Charlie... Not so much.) About the only good were the two Charlie Sheen jokes that came up.

The Simpsons Movie, last time I go to a movie just to be with my cousins. They should pick better movies (yeah right) if they want to hang around with me. And please, stop playing football and whichever FIFA game comes out, there are better stuff to do... like cooking or something, I don't know.

The Grudge disturbed me to no end. I think it was the contortionist with no jaw sliding her way down the stairs that did me in. Not to mention the little ghost kid who keeps screaming at everybody every chance he gets.

Christ, that movie still creeps me out to this day.
Are you talking about the japanese version? because that one was the trigger for my night terrors.
I saw that version and it looked like it had very low quality, like a cheap version that you could see on youtube

Zombieland.

It just wasn't good. Woody Harrelson was the only reason I went to see it, the dude from "facebook" is just such a bad character.

Coming in a close second? "White Chicks".
The only redeeming quality of that movie was Terry Crews singing that one girly song. That guy makes anything hilarious.

Ichi the Killer... that movie deals with things I never wanted to think were there to be dealt with.
Ohhhh myyyyyy. I got through 50 minutes of that movie before I couldn't take it anymore. When the lady getting raped finds out Ichi, the man who saved her, also wants to beat her up, and she says "Thank you", my friend left the room. Did you know the close-up shot of semen at the beginning was real? Who thought that was a good idea?!

Also, Battle Royale. I'd heard good things about it, and I wanted to see the movie that supposedly inspired The Hunger Games. It started off with promise, but the deaths were so stereotypically Japanese I couldn't help thinking of how Kung Pow spoofs it. And the "cookie death" at the end just completely killed it as a serious movie for me.
I can't say I agree with you on Battle Royale, it did inspire Hunger Games and I consider that film and book series to be nothing more than a cheap rip-off that got hundreds motion sickness. I can't understand your view of "stereotypical Japanese" either

pretty sure it was the uncle, not the older brother if you mean the one who went around as a salesman

It may sound super cheesy, but I think every film offers you something positive, so I don't regret ever seeing any. The closest I'd come to regret is my decision to watch Antichrist with my then girlfriend. The movie itself is great and I'd seen it before then, but watching it with her was awkward. Sure, it caused some discussion between us, which is always good, but I'd rather those questions come up in other ways, lol.

Lets see..

Spiderman 3 - Oh god was this terrible, it wasn't even batman and robin funny bad, it was the painful please tell me when the ending credits begins so my pain can end bad.

Transformers 2 - My friends actually loved it and thought I would too. It was the first movie since Spiderman 3 where I thought the movie was specifically trying to do so many things wrong on purpose to make me walk out of there. Which I should have since it would've hurt less then sitting through it's craptastic last act.

The last airbender - This film was so bad it made my friends try to drink the terrible away. Unfortunately for me I don't drink, but I think I would've if I paid extra money to watch it in 3D.
