A good end game party to have is cloud, cid, and tifa. they all have solid multiple hit limit breaks and their ultimate weapon passive abilities are the easiest to work around.
if you want to know more there will be spoilers but if not then this is the final party i'd recomend.
Not really they do full damage from the bak row and can hit certain creatures but thats it. You can a materia that does the same effect it is called Long Range I think so no points for originality.
Yeah lots of people hate graphics but I think they have a nice charm but that is because I had it. Same as I hate HL graphics but still giving it a go.
Also for party wise it is best to experiment as FFVII is a very flexible FF you can basically do whatever you want in it. Near the end I stuck with Barret and Red XIII/Nanaki I always called him that after my first run through the game.
I have a PS1 black disk copy of FF7. Great condition. But the sound in the ps1 emulation on my PS3 doesn't quite agree. Not a big deal, just a little glitchy. I wonder if anyone has noticed this, and if the downloadable version solves any of these issues. (Not that I'd buy it to solve issues. Just curious.)
Everyone is the same so it doesn't matter since they can all be customized the same as anyone else. So don't worry about which characters just worry about your materia setups.
[sub]what's the point of having more than 3 characters if they are all the same, this is where VII ruined things...[/sub]
Tifa - Cause once you get her to a certain health she just attacks over and over and over again with the same amount as her health and it whoops any bosses ass.
Barret - He has a gun for a FREAKIN' arm...need I say more!
Seconded, i loved this match up. Tifa in later levels kicks absolute ass. As for barret, his arm is a gun does any more need saying?
Also i would occasionally switch out barret for Vincent and Tifa for either Red or Yuffie, if you went through the agony of getting her as a character.

It's been a long while since I tried FF7 on my ps3, and I don't remember exactly what the glitchy sounds sounded like. Only that they were glitchy. Like, the one that stands out in my head is in the train yard in Midgar. I was fighting ghosts or some such. They'd cast a spell, and something obviously off would occur with the sound. I just don't recall what exactly. Only that it was glitchy. (Not static, or anything obnoxious. Which is probably why the sound itself doesn't stand out in my head. )
Is it really that hard to make a decision like this one your own? Limit breaks aside there's not a lot of difference to the characters, just go with who you think looks cool or like as a character ^_^
Also, any character does massive damage if they get into Lucky 7's mode. If a character is at exactly 7777 health, they do 7777 damage for 25 hits in a massive rage. Works beautifully against Emerald Weapon, due to Emerald's primary attack dealing 1111 damage for every Materia you have equipped. Equip 2 maxed out HP materias, and let him smack you once, putting you into Lucky 7's mode to slaughter him.
So thaaaaaat's what that was!? I did it ONCE on a dragon in the final area leading to you-know-who. I was totally dumbfounded as to what happened. The internet wasn't the information super highway yet, so I couldn't google it. I forgot about that until just now. And all is explained.
I used Tifa and Vincent, coincidentally the ones used in Egoraptor's "Awesome Fantasy VII" video. Fair warning though: Tifa's ultimate weapon can be rather crippling: if her Limit Gauge is down to 0, she'll only be doing around 50 damage.
Tifa and Barret. (I'm actually playing this as we speak on the PS3, I've just got to the Shinra building after climbing that pole and I've got every limit break* with every character**.and they are all at level 20-25... took a lot of grinding to make this possible)
* with exception of the level 4 limit breaks which you need a special items to learn.
** Every character that I have had in my party so far.
Tifa: She kicks real arse when you level her, at first she's very weak... just grind, grind your arse off and she becomes awesome.
Barret: You need a ranged character for some points and Barret is shit hot.
I recommend against using Aerith. She's extremely useful and a brilliant asset to the team but you come to rely on her too much before she dies.

Any of them. Ultimately they're all the same, leveling doesn't bloody mater because materia removes any individuality the characters have.
Please don't start this again. Look okay, we get that you don't like Final Fantasy VII. However when last time you commented on our lax standards, you caused a 2/3 page arguement that got you and another member put on probation. So if you really don't like Final Fantasy VII, then why not just ignore it and thus avoiding the possibility of causing more trouble and getting your self another suspension/probation?.
Tifa's limit breaks are really powerful toward the end of the game, but Vincent's are the the most generally awesome. He turns into horrible monsters, one of which is a guy with a chainsaw and hockey mask. Which I appreciate because it reminds me of the best Simpsons episode ever.
"BART YOU WANNA SEE MY NEW CHAINSAW AND HOCKEY MASK?!!!!"
Anyway, my favorites are Tifa and Vincent. Although Cid's reactions to plot-related events are the funniest.
i used vincent and cid and i seemed to annihilate anything that came across me cid's limit breaks have saved me more times then i care to remember and vincent is just an all round bad ass but it is personal preference and if you like to see a Frankenstein creature beat the living crap out of things lol
The technical best team is Cloud Barret and Cid, they're all the strongest characters, with the highest defense. Plus you can give them any magic so there's no real downfall to having all strongest ones.
The worst character is Vincent, because while he looks cool as do his limits, you cannot control him when he goes into a limit break so he does his own thing and when he dies he's dead. So if he's the ONLY ONE ALIVE, and his limit is active. You cannot revert him, you can't control him so you just have to HOPE that he'll win. And in big fights like the weapons and the final boss that's not gonna fly well. Even when paired with Phoenix and Final Attack I just hated using him. Cool character, just not good in battle.
