Pac Man actually had a reason to be in the game, as Namco helped make Smash 4.CrystalShadow said:... You do start to wonder sometimes don't you?
With all these 3rd party characters showing up in Smash Bros...
I mean, Sonic wasn't that weird. (witness Nintendo outright helping fund a Sonic game not too long after),
Snake was a bit bizarre, given very few MGS games have been on Nintendo systems.
But... These days... Ryu? Pac Man, Mega Man...
Still, Final Fantasy was Nintendo exclusive once upon a time... Just... Doesn't make a huge amount of sense to choose the one character in the series that most explicitly represents the end of that era...
Although I guess the fact that the Crystal Chronicles games kept being released suggested the relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo can't have been that terrible...
And really, that's what counts in the end for stuff like this.
Can the companies that own the characters agree to allow this?
The history of the characters does have some effect, no doubt, but that's almost certainly a far bigger factor...
... Huh. Did not know that.Ryallen said:Pac Man actually had a reason to be in the game, as Namco helped make Smash 4.CrystalShadow said:... You do start to wonder sometimes don't you?

And yet, he was on a Nintendo console, kinda... If you count the GBA in 2004 as well as the game he made a "cameo" in, of course...Saltyk said:Having Cloud appear on a Nintendo console, when he has never been on a Nintendo console ever, seems really weird.
I'd give my left nut to see Geno return in a meaningful wayjdogtwodolla said:Fucking Cloud... Really?!?
That is neither Geno nor any character from VI. You know, the actual Nintendo characters.
Well, they DID confirm DRAGON QUEST 7 coming to the 3DS, so who knows?Andy Shandy said:Just speculation on my part, based on that it would seem slightly strange that Nintendo would have a character in Smash Bros that hasn't been on their console (well besides Theatrhythm). It's by no means confirmed, or even hinted at by Nintendo.Samtemdo8 said:Whoa whoa whoa what this all about Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming to the next Nintendo Console?Andy Shandy said:STILL NOT BAYONETTA
For real, I was not expecting that. FF7R for NX now possibly? And if they make a Cloud Amiibo, Ninty and Squeenix could make a absolute shitton of money.
What? No? Why would Ps1 RPG fans be creaming their pants over a character being introduced into a brawl game on a non-Sony console. I seriously doubt there's much crossover between FF7 fans and smash brothers fans. The style of games are worlds apart.T-Shirt Turtle said:November 12, 2015, shall be remembered as the day FF7 fans the world over collectively creamed their jeans.
See, you're looking at this all wrong. Be glad that Cloud made it in.Andy Shandy said:STILL NOT BAYONETTA![]()
You never buy a six pack before? The bundle is always better value than the whole.Drathnoxis said:Smash Bros. has DLC now? Too bad, even Nintendo finally caught the downloadable content plague. Looks like this will be the last Smash Bros to have more characters than the previous one, after all it's more profitable to sell people the game and hold off all the interesting new content for DLC. And 6 bucks per character?! That's crazy expensive, if you buy all 5 DLC characters that's half the price of the game!
This ^. If FF7 fans feel like beating shit up with cloud, they would most likely just play the Dissidia games.chysamere said:What? No? Also I picture FF7 fans more as shorts wearers.
Megaman didn't really weird. After all most Megaman games are on a Nintendo platform and mostly exclusives. Pretty much everyone I know equates Megaman with Nintendo games, especailly the regular Megaman and not X.CrystalShadow said:Ryu? Pac Man, Mega Man...
Most fighting game characters cost $5-$10 post release. This isn't new. Not to mention that they're more than likely bundling him with his stage, mii costumes, and exclusive FF Smash remix music. And the obvious part, it's all optional.Nazulu said:Six dollars for a character is a fucking rip-off! Yeah, I think I can put Nintendo with the rest of the shit heap now.
