This is a phrase I use many times in gaming. I'm wondering, what makes you say this when you are playing a game.

For me it was Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker when

You are fighting Peace Walker for the first time and when you finally get it's HP to zero (which takes FOREVER) it goes into the normal destruction cutscene and then it fucking transforms into something else. Well there goes a fucking hour of fighting for NOTHING!

For me it definitely has to be Ninja Gaiden 2.

Volf is a massive werewolf and a very hard boss to kill. Even if one does manage to kill him with a decent amount of health remaining you will still get killed taking on the dozen or so werewolves that attack you straight afterwards and then have to do the boss battle again, rinse and repeat.

EDIT: by boss I meant big guy you have to kill I know shooters dont do that often but still the final stage ended abruptly I havent played Halo/Halo2

I definitely had this kind of moment in the most recent DLC for Mass Effect 2.

Tela Vasir looked like she was done after bleeding out for a while and her attempt at taking hostage as a human shield failed miserably, but no, I guess then she was ready to have a long protracted firefight.

Seriously, doesn't one take people as human shields after they've been beaten, not before, when they're clearly perfectly healthy and confident of victory?

The entire story was kinda an ass to play on Veteran. Mostly because your the only compitant person in an entire military force.

So let me get this straight? I have to run to burgertown, then to the gas station, and back to The burger town, and then back to the gas station, and then back to the diner we started at, all because i couldent pick the stinger missle on the roof up to begin with!? While theres a heli, 2 strikers, and a legion of spetsnaz elite soldiers trying to stop me?

Well played Infinity Ward. You successfully made an easy situation 10x more difficult.

Uh, this only happened to me in Bioshock(as far as I can remember). I was revved up when getting to Andrew Ryans office. When I got there, I had full health, full health packs, full eve hypos, full ammo, and so on and so forth. I was ready for an enormous boss battle. Then it was just a cutscene where I lodge a golf club in his head.

Same thing when I fought Atlas in Bioshock. Was ready for awesome, and got sub-par. I strafed in circles shooting a machine gun at him until he died. I never ran outta ammo, and used my Plasmids maybe once.

The game was a disappointment personally.

Surprised no one's mentioned Turok. The final boss, Kane, is just one big QTE. After you beat that, which is rather hard, might I mention, you're sitting there, enjoying your victory, your thumbs aching from all the button pressing...

And a motherfucking T-Rex comes stomping in. Mind you, this T-Rex is faster then you, can kill you in one hit, and takes 10 rockets to kill. You don't spawn with a rocket launcher, the Rex is inbetween you and the launcher, the launcher is separate from the ammo, and your other weapons do next to no damage against him. There are patches of insta-kill lava, which he can step in just fine but you have to navigate around.

The ultimate gaming blue balls.

The fight against Orphan is a big one for me.
Kill the first form, yay! ...Wait, another from. OK, that'll work.
*Fast forward an hour later* Yay, got the seconf fo- ...OH FOR FUCK SAKE!!!
*Kill the third form* Is it dead yet?! Yay!!! ...*Assorted random swear words at how annoying that was*

I went into that fight thinking it was easy and I'd planned things after it! I had to change those plans!
Thankfully, nothing major that needed my attention though.

Ok, first beatdown against Zeus. Yay! I win, Ahh crap he escaped!
Second Beatdown against Zeus, Ok surely this has gotta be..HOLYJESUSGAIA!!!
Third Beatdown against Zeus. Ok, that was annoying, fairly hard but he's finally. *Sees Zeus spirit rise up and zap Kratos* Oh for (EFF)'s Sake!
I spent 7 minutes tapping that button to smash Zeus' face in. It felt good.
