There was no need for John Marston to die. And the arbitrary, homely missions like shooting with jack and other stuff like that only made the game flow horribly. I swear if they let me take out my Evans Reapeater I could of gotten all those Army bastards.

Spoiler: Rebuttal.

John Marston knew that he had to die. It wasn't a question of being able to kill the army, it was a question of doing what was best for his family. Had he just run away, then the army would find him again and his family would never be safe again, that's why he died and that was his redemption. He wanted the best for his son and does everything he can to ensure that Jack does not become him, which makes it so sad that he grows up to be an outlaw like his father.

RDR ultimately seems to teach that there are some things in life that you just cannot run from.

How about in Lost Odyssey. Finally getting close to the end, now I just gotta climb this huge tower and confront the bad guy. Took me a good goddamn while but here I finally am, face to face with the villain. Oops, fell of the tower and have to do it all again, but this time on an even bigger tower! No real confrontation, no proper boss battle or anything like that. You really just ran up the tower just so that the REAL final battle could take place atop another tower. Le fu-
