Firefly is my second favorite show of all time, after battlestar galactia.

You can find episodes free on Hulu.com, then decide for yourself.

Great price. Great series. Sad that it didn't make it further. It's awesome. If you like Whedon's work you'll more than love Firefly. And if you like his stuff you should definitely check out his new show Dollhouse. XD

Firefly totally get it. Serenity too. Serenity wasn't as good mainly because the big companies bullied joss whedon into making it more mainstream ( again ). This time it was universal, for firefly it was FOX. But yeah buy the dvd and watch it and then join the ranks of those who hate fox eternally for canceling it.

Oh and then you will finally get the in-joke about fox executives going to special hell =P

I love it for the lines and the nuances and the breaking of some of the sci-fi molds. But mostly the lines.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Wash: "This landing is gonna get pretty interesting."
Mal: "Define 'interesting'."
Wash: [deadpan] "Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?"

Mal: "This is the Captain. We may experience some slight turbulence and then...explode."
Jayne: "We're gonna explode? I don't wanna explode!"

Mal: "Doctor, I'm takin' your sister under my protection here. If anything happens to her, anything at all, I swear to you, I will get very choked up. Honestly, there could be tears."

Mal: "What in the hell happened back there?"
Wash: "Start with the part where Jayne gets knocked out by a 90-pound girl 'cause... I don't think that's ever getting old."

I'm one of the many that watched the movie first, then the show. I highly recommend both if you're sci-fi fan!

C'mon, anything from Joss Whedon is gold, and Firefly is quite possibly his greatest work ever. Who else started watching Dollhouse? I was expecting it to be rather disappointing, but I really like the amount of mystery and suspense. Sadly, not as much humor as his other stuff.

Bottom line, people!
Everyone loves Firefly, even people who are meant to hate Firefly, Firefly Firefly Firefly etc.

Everyone loves Serenity, except for people who dislike it for the same reasons they like it. I like Serenity even though I dislike it, for the same reasons. Serenity is awesome because it's MORE FIREFLY! FUCK YEAH! But Serenity sucks because it's just more Firefly.

So really, when it comes down to it, get both then join in on our talks about it so we can evermore put off actually doing something important with our time!

Definitely get it.

Firefly/Serenity has some of the best dialogue I have seen in a series, with likeable characters that you care about in an instant. It's got great writing, actors that love the roles they play and a director that wanted to make it for fans, not for money (though the money was good, too!).

I've found that the majority of people that don't like Firefly don't like it because they don't like Buffy or Angel and had immediate bias, or because they hate hype of any kind and resist it. I have yet to find a single person that watched Firefly with no such baggage and failed to enjoy it utterly.

And, hey, for 12 pounds, you're not exactly down on cash too much if you don't happen to enjoy it. But I really hope you do, because it's a brilliant show.

Okay, just to make things clear: Serenity and Firefly are worth any price.
This is not just my personal opinion, it's in the laws of the universe.

I recently bought Serenity on Blu-ray, for about $30, and I don't even own a Blu-ray player. (It's THAT good)

Buy the series with your first-born child, if that's the asking price. It's totally worth it.
Most Definitely.

Petitions were circulated to keep the show on the air; things along the line of "You Keep Flying, We'll Keep Watching" Alas...

I've been trying to get a couple of friends of mine to watch the series for about a year now; I used the line "I'm going to the special hell" in context, in an RP session and none of them got the reference.

It's really been a matter of timing, if everything works out, I should have them watching by this Friday. *Crosses fingers*

Show them episode 13, imo that has the cutest summer glau scene.... =D

Edit : I recently bought the Collector's edition of serenity off amazon. Including shipment it was roughly 50 bucks. It's totally worth it.

Mmm...Summer Glau...sexiest Terminator ever...

More of a fan of <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewel_Staite>Jewel Staite, though...I think it was the whole "Wholesome homemaker" vibe she had going on...the fact that she could work on an engine was also infinitely sexy to me.

I almost cried when I saw her in that episode of Dead Like Me, I was grief stricken at what had happened to my Kaylee.

I suppose if she had fucked someone other than Mason it would have been easier to handle, but still...

Damn right =P But yeah kaylee. She also did someone else in out of air didnt she. It was how mal hired her.
OHOH newsflash. Summer glau is going on the big bang theory as a cameo, acting as herself.
( The guys all realized she was around and they start having a mass debate when they realized someone has to talk to her )

I loved Firefly, that series and the movie Serenity were just amazing, easily one of the best scifi shows I've seen with great writing and characters. I've probably watched the show 4 times through, I think I might take another watch at it this month. I despise Fox for canceling it.

Right, like the "hole" you pointed out when you cited Sir Christopher Lee (who incidentally got killed off after about six seconds of screen time) despite the point that I said "You can lather/rinse/repeat with any actors from either movie." And the fact that I was praising the dialogue in Serenity rather than complaining how it stagnated the film, like Episode III. And hey, I can quote literary journals and film critics right back at you about Serenity. And all of this is overlooking the fact that these are opinions, not theories, like this is some sort of science experiment.
actually the fact that Lucas' films have been praised by many a film school and literary person is NOT an opinion, it's a fact. nice you can claim that about Serenity but it's just not true, please if you have some journals you wish to quote provide them

as for Sir Christopher Lee's role, still in his 6 seconds, as you phrase it, he has more presence than most ppl do in a whole 90 mins
