So... responding more calmly, first of all, viruses don't "evolve." They're not living creatures. They don't eat, they don't grow, they don't reproduce. The only way a virus has of propagating itself is to attach itself to a cell and inject its RNA into it to overwrite the cell's DNA. Then the cell becomes a virus factory, producing copies of the virus until it simply becomes too full and explodes, sending out millions of new viruses to infect other cells. It ~has~ to kill its host in order to propagate itself. H1N1 just did it more virulently than any other virus known to man.
In the interests of veracity I should say that my paper was not on Spanish flu proper, but on the effects of Spanish flu on the Seattle General Strike of 1919. So it's a little limited and I'm partially relying on a Stanford website. What I have in my books points to the fact that the first victims in Seattle died the night they were diagnosed.
Ah, ok. Here's an article from the National Archives.

So sometime between "hours" and "a few days."
The great thing is that in 1976 the same H1N1 virus we're facing now killed people just as quickly. News has reported that, if you think it's sensational. The problem was it happens to be a fact. The only difference between 1919 and 1976 was that the virus didn't become a pandemic. Now it's becoming a pandemic.
Who knows, it could turn around at any point. But H1N1 is the real fucking deal.

Nothing: I'll agree to that assessment. I think it's entirely sober and rational, and much less sensationalized than what you posted before.
Now I'm gonna drop issue, because I'm sure I'm getting tedious- if not to you, to then to the innocent bystanders.
I said absolutely nothing different in that post, but your (over)reaction to it changed.
Thank you. Talking to you has been fascinating in its pointlessness.
Wow. You're right. It
is completely pointless talking to you. You failed to comprehend even one single thing I posted, didn't you?
Ah well, as I mentioned above, I'm not going to enter into a debate with you, but now because it's pretty clear that you are misinformed and completely unwilling to admit that writing a paper which tangentally touched on the Influenza pandemic of 1918 just might not make you an expert on the subject. (For example: a) go look up the debate on whether or not viruses qualify as life. b) look up the word 'evolve' in its biological usage. c) read up on the replication of viruses and how they spread, you are entirely, completely, and absolutely wrong that they have to kill the host; in fact, those that do are much less successful in nature.)
You also fail to see the difference between the hysterical nonsense of "...people were often struck with the disease walking down the street and died ~going~ to the hospital. That's the kind of disease this is. Typical time from showing symptoms to death is one day" and the more reasoned post you made above. If you are really that insensate, you are totally correct: you have completely wasted my time.
It's just a shame that you get to propogate such nonsense without anyone to force you to prove what you say when you're shooting your mouth off, because I sure as hell won't be wasting my time on reading your posts.
Oh, and just FYI, while my avatar is in fact a subtle selfdirected dig at the fact that I'm a passionate person, you should always remember that just because a person may react strongly to something does not mean that they are wrong. Also, you should take a logic and reason course at your school; then perhaps you would know that Ad Hominem attacks are lame and only make you look like a punk.
