"The situation isn't quite as cool as it sounds, as Gasson only infected a computer chip inserted into his hand for research purposes. Still, it's reported that he's been relentlessly offering everyone around him mail-order Viagra."

That bit made me fucking LOL.

I want to be able to use VATS in real life, But anyway this seems wayyyyy too exoplit(able?), I mean if this gets "big" then they would have to jack up the securty on everything.

i imagine these issues will be smoothed out before this tech ever reaches the public.
Regardless of how much high tech security they throw at this, people will find a way to bypass it.

And when the day arrives that the government enforces this RFID chip ( it's not going to be far off trust me just google RFID and you'll be amazed at how much progress has occured ), the geek will inherit the earth.

Unfortunately, I'm about as useless with computers as it gets =(

So does this mean I will need to install Symantec on my cyber-implants too... Sheesh more subscription costs, I only have 3 licenses and they are used by all my PC's.... I guess the implants could run a stripped down Linux to solve that problem though.

Actually, this sounds like a real issue. I hope they find a solid solution to the issue before these things become commonplace.
As much as I hate to to say it, we'll have to run our bio-software on Macs.

You never know, the zombie apocalypse could end up happening someday not due to a biological infection, but a computer virus that takes over our future cyborg minds.
You mean... robo-zombies?

The article was interesting, but the last paragraph almost sounded like a movie pitch... and not a bad one, either. Market it as anything other than another Lawnmower Man movie and you might get a deal.

At this juncture I am fed up with both Norton and McAfee's services. Anyone think that AVG will make a good implant anti virus?

There's a book called Feed that talks about this.

Basically, everyone has a computer chip in their brain, and a bunch of rebels are going around hacking people to make them join their army.

A second opinion on this rather silly media stunt:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/05/26/captain_cyborg_cyberfud/

Cyborgs are cool, sure. But the guy basically slipped a faulty Oyster Card under his skin, nothing more. Snow Crash is still a ways off.
