Don't we have enough with one terrible looking blue CG character, Hollywood?
I'm guessing this is a reference to something, but I'm not sure what...

And I don't think Genie looks that bad either.

Hollywood Critic culture's hate boner on CGI knows no bounds.

So is this supposed to be like an Alvin and the Chipmunks thing? Otherwise I don?t see anything that screams live action about a blue CGI hedgehog picture.

Sonic has never looked as much like an out-of-touch dad's terrible attempt at connecting with his estranged kid through the medium of furry animal mascot as he does right now. Like the essence of bubsy but with inexplicable injections of money. And to be honest, I've always kinda got that vibe from him, but they've now pushed it to a point where it can't be brushed aside as the fevered rumblings of a decaying and delinquent imagination.

I love Sonic, I hate this. Why do we need to make cartoons live action? Cartoons are fine! People need to get their head out of their pretentious asses. This is garbage, Detective Pikachu is also garbage, and it is going to raise questions we never should have to ask.

Just make a damn cartoon. CGI is overrated.
Unfortunately that's where the money is. You make this a cartoon people will look at it and say 'This looks old, where's my fluffy, shiney looking CGI?'

What is it with Sonic that draws such an unending barrage of bad ideas?
At least that's something the film adaptation got accurate from the source material...

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be but a noticeable downgrade from his regular look.

Doesn't just look bad, he looks cheap. All the money go to animating Robotnik's moustache or something?
I'm kind of dreading what Eggman is going to look like....

It scares me.
Poor Amanda Wong. I hope she knows that she singlehandedly destroyed any chance for this movie.

Let's be honest here, the only time Sonic has ever looked good was back in the 90s, in 2D, when he was pretty much just sassy Mickey Mouse. His 3D design has always been awkward. Monoeye, strangely long limbs, elongated black nose, we've gotten used to it by now but it has sure as hell never looked good. I think the closest 3D Sonic has come to looking decent was with his Sonic Boom design. Honestly, the Sonic Boom cartoon was probably the best Sonic related thing since... also the 90s, probably.

This design up there... well, an attempt was made. They lost the monoeye and made his nose not weird, which I appreciate, but the proportions are all wrong. His forehead and his brow are too big.

They say it with their wallet. If Disney/Pixar made a 2D animated movie today it would make dick for cash, because people today equate theater worthy animated movies to CGI.

How can we spend our money on animated movies if they don't make any for us to spend our money on?

Even the precious 2D animated Disney Renaissance movies and other great 2D movies of the time used a lot of CGI. Case in point, The Prince of Egypt:

Personally, I hate CGI in otherwise 2D animation. It is a plague in modern anime right now and I hate it.

Oh come now you wish CGI anime looked as good as Dragon Ball FighterZ. If the new Berserk had the same CG Celshading quality as Dragon Ball FighterZ no one would complain.

As for me, I am weird because I want more CGI movies that look like this:

Fuck the Uncanny Valley. I am impressed that someone can make something that looks like real life with Zeros and Ones on a computer.

I am not a Sonic fan. I do not play his games or watch his shows on a regular basis.

That being said, Sonic does appear strange here.
What terrible sins have we committed that this was set upon us?

GUYS GUYS GUYS.

We haven't even seen a trailer for this movie yet.

We haven't even seen how this Sonic will look like in sound and motion.
