I just tend to ignore them, but when you see "first!" or "LOLFIRST!" over and over again on the same video, it does tend to get very annoying.

I never really understood this whole FIRST thing. I like to think that there are really losers that think this somehow makes them better people. Hi-fucking-llarious ^^
Oh and it is also funny that on some machinima videos on you tube there are FIRST comments posted 1000 days after the video was released :S

They're a great group of people to make examples out of. It proves that stupidity and pointlessness will not be tolerated.
Most, if not all, the people immature enough to post like that are not going to be able to handle being a competent contributor to this community.
And I think the staff should get to stroke their ego here, too.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here... but it is reasonable to comment on ZP almost as soon as it starts (and before it completes) and thereby be the First, as you can open two browser windows and multitask. There is nothing to stop you coming back to make further comments on the rest of it later on.
Of course, if The Escapist wanted to stop this annoying behavior they only need to ensure that that week's ZP forum opened five minutes after the ZP video became available. That way all posts would have occurred after the video, although it wouldn't guarantee those contributors had watched any of it.
I think a lot of them want to see what game Yahtzee is reviewing and then plead for him to do one hitherto unreviewed of their choice.

The problem is all the people congratulating him on a well done video, saying stuff like "best one yet"...a minute after the video goes up. It's blatantly obvious that they didn't watch it and are just stroking their post counts, and that is frowned upon here.Uncompetative said:

It is a diversion. While the mods are banning the firsters as they rush the walls of this site, noone notices the trolls implanting themselves in the forum.
