A better solution might be to maybe just cut the internet connnection to their house or disable texting on their phone. That way not only do you force them to do somting else, but you actually save money.

I honestly beleive that there is no such thing as video game or internet addiction, and that it's purely society blowing things out of proportion.

"So who do I make the $14500 cheque out to?"

"Oh, just make it out to Cash... Dr. Cash.... or if you prefer, my partner Professor Kerching".
$322 a day can buy a hell of a lot of gaming time, hell for less than $322 a day you could buy your internet addicted family member a subscription to every MMORPG.
They wouldn't be able to cope with playing multiple different games simultaneously, but they wouldn't be able to handle neglecting one particular charter in one game, so they'll overload, suffer a minor OCD breakdown and subsequently swear off MMORPG's for life.

Now let's just sit back and wait to see the news about another deceased brat from an addiction camp.

I find it upsetting that "addiction" has come to mean nothing more than "bad habit." By today's standards, anything can be addicting and thus the entire concept of personal responsibility goes completely out the window.

Sadly, this place will probably make a fortune plying its snake oil onto well-heeled suckers, and the laughable concept of "internet addiction" will continue to gain traction as a result.

So what is supposed to be the end result of this program? A cured patient goes to live with the Amish?

I wasn't aware you could become addicted to the Internet, I always thought that since it is a way for people to socialize that it could not be addicting.

Dr. Cash... name says it all. I hope the rich ***** that send their kids to this place get forced into some sort of rehabilitation themselves.

I also agree with the sentiment that "bad habits" are becoming "addictions" in society. Someone's grossly obese? Oh it's not their problem they're addicted to overeating. Just one example.

If people want to make a big deal about recreational habits than in the US they could really make money off of television addiction camps. 95% of the US' population would be in there if it was forced upon them for a perceived "addiction".

I used to watch 6 hours of tv a day. As I get older that amount of time continues to go down. Most days I don't even watch tv. While I agree there is such a thing as internet addiction, I don't think it should EVER represent a health risk unless the person involved consistently either neglects food or gorges on ho-hos all day long.

All psychological, non-chemical addictions have the same root, low self esteem and a lack of goals in life or the willpower to pursue them. I used to read a book every 2 days when I was younger, but everyone was delighted and saw nothing wrong with that, because books are good and internet and games are baaaaaaad. Nobody knows what the fuck they are talking about these days, and that place is capitalizing on exactly that.

wow.

first of all, 15,000 is way too much. second, do we really need this. i mean sure some people are im\n fact addicted to the internet and videogames. but qwe really dont need to pay to open up a treatment center, especially in north america. just look and china and the re-education camps. thopse dont seem like places any of us would want to go. (especially since there is a chance we could be beaten to death :O)

The line between self control and addiction is so blurred that they use it as a highly accurate sobriety test, or something.

This might just be my skepticism, but why do I feel like...this center might even be downright -exploiting- people. $15,000 bucks? Sounds more like a "business" than a clinic, if you catch my drift.
