Flame war: PS3 vs XBOX360

It started because mum's (mom's for you yanks and your phobia of the letter "u"... what's up with that anyway?) only ever buy their kids one console. Turn back the clock 10-15 years and you'll see kids arguing over whether segas or nintendos were better... (which is just ridiculous, because a retard could tell the Mega Drive has a much more powerful engine than the '64 just by looking at the flagship software!)

There is only one honourable way to solve this dispute. We must find a piece of software that runs on both systems, then we must run it on these two separate systems simultaneous, that we may assess the flaws and merits of each. Finally we must allow each console to be consumed by a great conflagration, the one that remains functional the longest will be declared the victor!

Anyways, I've always felt of flame wars as inevitable, since they're like the eternal question:
What happens when an unstoppable force (XBOX) meets an immovable object (PS). Flame wars, that's what.

I prefer Xbox over Ps3 because it just has better games and more of a community. You get free stuff, free demos, videos, and a pretty decent paying system. $50 for a year isn't bad.
Plus, for it's flaws, it either equals out with Ps3 or has something to cover it up.
Gold membership costs money?
Playstation plus. :/
Kinect will suck?
PS3 move.

I don;t hate Ps3, I just prefer 360.

People tend to either buy only one console that they can afford, or buy one console first. Gaming makes up a significant amount of time, and is basically a culture. Your console effects what kinds of games you experience. What do humans do when they are within a culture, and see a group who are different then them, and are competing with them for the resource of pride in their ability to choose the right console? You hate them. We are programmed to hate the, "Others", and that extends to modern day hobbies.

I read it, I'm just stating opinion and the whole
"They seem to equal out pretty well" Is a bit of a hint to why I try to exclude myself of flamewars.
Though, I probably should have added that I think that's it's just system pride and the whole drive to prove that one is smarter or superior to another, using purchase decisions as an example.

I think the wii is the only one that doesn't have free stuff, unless they changed it or something.

The only person I know that has a ps3 only talks about the games, and says he almost never looks at anything else.
I just assumed.
Also, nintendo has been giving away some free stuff, but nothing that good. Just a demo or two.

This is not a new phenomenon. This same type of behavior was present during the SNES/Genesis era. Any time there are two legitimate contenders for the gaming market, smack talk will commence.

The only difference between the aforementioned period and now is a robust internet community.

Yeah the PS3 has free online and you don't need to pay for the new ones or to play online, it's funny that people mention online as a plus for xbox because that's always been the one thing i thought ps3 did best.

do you have any idea why threads exist? It's pretty pointless to post the same opinion everyone else has and leave. It's meant to be a conversation starter, nothing more. Nobody wants to read "because its the one they bought" over and over again. If you want people to stay on topic, maybe make a thread with a topic that's worth discussing.
