Console, for the controller and achievements.
Steam has achievements, many flash sites have achievements, and if you want a controller get a Game-pad with choices of PS2 style, 360 style, Arcade style, NES style and so on.

Your argument is invalid.
No, it's pretty valid. If he already has a console, he already has the controller, why would pay money for one for PC?

Also, flash sites have nothing to do with that, we're talking about retail games that can be bought either on consoles or on PC.

Also, not every game goes with Steam, thus not every new PC game has achievements.

OT: I usually like the console controls more and my PC is not particularly powerful, and I hate freeing up disk space and stuff, so it's usually consoles.

However, the PC is excellent for Valve games and niche simulation titles.

A lot of factors change my decision.

If it's multiplayer, which system do my friends have it on?
Do my PC specs beat it's recommended requirements?
Does using a controller sound like it would be awful? (Such as RTS's, fuck those on console)

For the most part I choose console, less headaches getting the game to work. But there is usually some serious consideration before I choose.

[EDIT]Also, why isn't this a poll?[/EDIT]

Given the choice, I'd go for the console version every time. The major factor is that my console is connected to my uber AV setup, and I can get more comfortable.

Although when it comes to sims, there is no contest, PC all the way.

For PC, if it has been made for PC. If it is just a conversion then I won't likely be playing it at all - those 'lock-on' target features and "press space to glue your backside to the wall" are just too annoying. Not to mention the control schemes are usually at least partially locked "wait, I can't access spellcasting without locking on to a target? What's the idea of that?".

There are a lot of good console games that I like to play, but perhaps mercifully they have not been made into C-class PC conversions. But when the choice is to play on PC or console, PC it is, always. The SNES controller was the last one I could actually comfortably wrap my hands around and now I'm too used to having full customizability with 30+ different actions available to just one hand.

Console, no question. I don't like PC Gaming as much; too complicated what with all the graphics cards and shit.
Plus my PC would barely play any brand-spanking-new high-graphics game without exploding.
I also just prefer my Xbox to play on. More comfortable controller, less fiddly due to less buttons. Feels traditional to play with a gamepad rather than a mouse and keyboard.

And if I want to check a guide or something on the internet, my PC is literally right next to my TV and Xbox.

Always for PC if the game is on both the PC and consoles. And if it's a lousy port like GTA4, AC2 and SC: Conviction then I maybe get it for console. Maybe.

Fighting, Driving or Sports games i always buy for the console.
RPG's, RTS's and any other strategy games, i always buy for the PC.

For FPS's i used to buy for PCs seeing as i didnt have a console, but i've had the ps3 for a while now, so i'll normally buy games for that so i can play with friends, despite the fact i think they play better on the PC.

Generally, console. But now I have a better computer, I would go for PC. Especially for Oblivion, and things with a massive amount of controls/HUD quickslots, 'cause it would be ridiculous for me to think things like that would really work on a console.

PC all the way, but i have to admit that some game are better on consoles.

Anything that requires aiming is definitely a PC for me. For fighting games and sports game it's better on consoles

Would depend on many factors, major one being compatibility. I'm not going to play a shiny game on PC if I can't have it on full settings, and the console version looks better thn the current PC settings. It also depends on the game. Luckily, I have all consoles and a decent computer, but got the computer recently so spent the last few years on console.

PC. I will take the comfort of a keyboard & mouse kept midrif high by a table over holding an uncomfortable gamepad or waving a stick any day. Game pads always game me finger cramps, especially the ones that had hard plastic buttons instead of soft rubber ones.

On a PC, I can stop mid-game, hit alt-esc or start, & surf the net for a walkthrough for a few minutes & then get back to the game. I understand consoles can get internet now? But I haven;t played one one since the late 90s.

I also don't need to get a new rig every few years; just upgrade the graphics card for about $100 & you're set for like the next 6 years.
On a console, I can pause the game, bring up a walkthrough on my PC, and read the walkthrough at the same time as playing the game... Plus, I'm free to use all my PC memory for anything else.
We're getting close. Now the gamepad just needs a stand to sit on so it doesn;t actually have to be held. In return, Logitech must make a soft rubber keyboard.

If I had a good PC, I would always choose the PC. Unfortunately, I don't and am 15 years old, therefore unable to pay for it myself. So I just get my newest games on the Xbox 360. However, with games from 2006 and before, I generally buy for the PC due to the inundation of mods and for the comfort and flexibility of the PC.

It depends on the game for me.
For a Shooters, RPG's, RTS' and third-person games like Tomb Raider I'll go for the PC (aslong as I'm confident my PC can handle it) as I feel that the controls will be alot smoother and there will be a good ton of mods to test out.
But there are games I feel would be better to play on a console like; Assassin's Creed, Dead Rising 2, Prototype and Grand Theft Auto, and of course there are a few console exclusive games like Uncharted and God of War that I like aswell.

PC, because of the extra horsepower and the beauty that is modding. It's also often a better value, since games that have delayed releases on the PC often get bundled with all the DLC you had to pay for on the consoles. Also, 50 bucks is better than 60, as is being able to fire up Steam and not have to leave the house/deal with a Gamestop employee.

my friend bought the PC version of Arkham Asylum because that version had steam and smoke. I thought it was silly, but when I went to buy it I thought "this version has steam". But I bought black ops on PS3 because the PC version was apparently bad. So Id say I prefer whichever version is better, or has more stuff.

PC all the way. Modding plus access to Steam (and the mouse and keyboard controls which are better for most things except racers) will keep me a PC gamer forever.

PC. I got an XBox controller for it, why would I buy it for a console? What is made for PC is a ***** to port to console, what is made for a console mostly has to struggle with controls during porting, so there's little reason not to take the PC version. For me at least.

Another reason why I go PC is because my formative years were spent during the period where the PC was king, where it was the platform where all the exciting things were happening, when most of the games that were getting all the attention from the press and from gamers were on the PC, when it seemed like every other week something would come out that did something on a technological level that blew minds, when the devs were like rock stars and were supremely confident and had swagger and would do things like release a game in a box that had no name on it, just a screenshot, when the most popular booth on the show floor at E3 was 3dfx and as such I have a pretty strong love of the PC as a platform.
