People can watch whatever the fuck they like.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'd never have figured it out otherwise. Still, such freedoms really are no excuse for poor taste - if there is any taste involved in this case whatsoever.
Oh sorry, I'll be sure to consult your expert opinion before watching anything from now on.

Hamtaro is way better than ponies.
OMG we need to bring Hamtaro back to cultural relevance. I saw Hamtaro Halloween costumes at a discount store the other day, I could buy those and use the masks for some kind of viral video. I have tapes too, Hamtaro tapes! And two plush toys! We can do this!

Now we need to come up with the Hamtaro equivalent of Brony, Hrony, naw that sounds a lot like "horny"...
You could always call yourself a Brotaro

Or a HamtaBro

Yeh, if you could do that, that would be great.

@lunncal - originality not really your strong point is it? Please endeavour to put more effort into your responses in the future. Further plagiarism will result in disciplinary actions being taken.

Funny, the haste with which the MLP obsessives leap to defend their precious show seems to far outsrip that of any other individual advocating any other property. Insecure much?

"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

I was too busy listening to Unicron's theme to actually hear was was being said... but that Dragon was cooler, regardless of his apparent being talked down too.

I liked that dragon's design too, further emphasizing my point.

He should have ate them.

I really don't care what C.S. Lewis thinks about this. Only thing I care about is that, if I write anything serious on these Boards, it carries far less weight simply because you can't stop going on about Ponies. Plenty of other subjects where it's the same deal. But ''Bronies'' seem to always make sure they are especially noticed.

But seeing as you like quotes, I'm sure you've seen this one a few times. Pretty much sums up my feelings on this subject.

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."

- Albert Einstein

You can like whatever you want, for all I care you can like licking Gerbals. I'd still prefer you keep it to yourself. Or atleast keep it amoung the Gerbal-licking community.
Please don't use ad hominem to try to justify your points.

And according to what you say, everyone should just stop talking about everything they like, as long as you don't approve of it. :/

That's what I'm getting out of your comments, sorry if that's not the case.

I watched the first three episodes of MLP: Friendship is Magic (just to see what all the hubbub was about) and I have to say it's one of the kiddiest cartoons I ever saw. I mean, it's nicely made, the voice acting is good but it's aimed at young kids. I don't get why all these adults are falling all over it, which is saying a lot since I can enjoy a good cartoon.

So yeah, not a Brony here.
I think because it's a form of social rebellion. You have these rules laid out by society, and people like to break them just for the sake of breaking them, or rather some way to define themselves, really, something to set them apart from the teething masses. You get to screw the rules through some backwards way (now THERE'S a mental image), and get away with it because you're a nerdy social outcast anyways!
And the show's kind of cute. It is the first in a long time to make a serious effort at being a really good little kids' show, rather than just a time-slot filler or toy-seller or gender-role-panderer.

EDIT: Also, it's a great way to victimize yourself, like that annoying kid who teases the big kid into attacking him and he gets in trouble, while at the same time criticizing others' lack of tolerance for other subjects, rather than just not liking it.

That's pretty much it, for ya.

The only people opinions I care about are my friends' opinions. I'm not going to lose sleep over what a random internet strager thinks of me.

1. That isn't ad hominem. The point being that the entire Subject, and thus the people behind it, on all sides are acting stupid. You are acting stupid because you are getting offended over people ''not accepting'' that you are gushing over a kiddy show. Others are acting stupid for actually antagonizing you. I'm acting stupid for even letting people like you pull me into this. Like I said. It's a kids show, IT IS FOR KIDS, IT IS NOT FOR YOU. Go ahead and like it anyway, but just know that, not the fact that you simply like it, but the fact that you parade it around like it makes you special, that makes me see you as a attention seeker and in all honesty, I actually do look down on that sort of thing.

2. No, talking about things people don't like is fine...to a degree. It's the same as with all Memes, the Idiots that can never shut up about it are ANNOYING. That's ignoring that it is a kids show. It's just annoying. Talk about what you want - Where it belongs. Random Threads is not where it belongs. Constantly opening Threads about it - also not ok. You have a Group - Talk about it in the Group. Open A Thread - Totally fine. Go to a actual Ponies Forum - Nirvana for your talking about a Kids Show needs.

I don't care if you like the show, I am simply annoyed by people constantly bringing it up. Being it fans or haters, it's just annoying.

Don't even bother answering, I'm done here, I'm not going to explain to you (again) why constantly gushing over a show for small kids is childish and annoying, figure it out yourself.
Here's my "problem" with what you're saying (Yes, I ignored that line in your last paragraph), you're implying that all bronies are fanatics gushing over the show. This is not true. I watch the show, I don't base my life around it.

And I don't have a problem with anyone that doesn't accept my love for the show, I have a problem with the people making fun of me as a person because I like the show. I couldn't care less about what they think about the show itself.

You're saying that because something is childish it has to be bad. Why? Childish things aren't inherently bad is what I'm trying to say. If you think so, could you please explain why you think so?

And yes, I admit, I shouldn't have called it ad hominem. However, I do think you were being condescending.

IT IS FOR KIDS, IT IS NOT FOR YOU.
This just comes off as ignorant. Just wanted to point it out. The fact that I, and a lot of other people watch this disproves that statement.

Go ahead and like it anyway, but just know that, not the fact that you simply like it, but the fact that you parade it around like it makes you special, that makes me see you as a attention seeker and in all honesty, I actually do look down on that sort of thing.
When did I ever do this?

Most of us bronies are not trying to go out of our way to get noticed. But this fandom is so huge, and it is a lot of hate and conflict following it. It's bound to pop up some places. This was a huge problem before when the fandom was still new. It's not that big of a problem now.

What I feel is that you have seen a few "bad" bronies and decided that everyone in the fandom is like that. Generalizing and stereotyping is not a good thing to do. All groups of people has their black sheeps.

I'm not mad or offended by what you're saying, I just want to understand your opinions and why you think like this.
