I wanted to see if the force unleashed is what everyone else wants me to think because so far I've heard its either pretty good or its not worth their time

I think it's pretty good, and in my opinion it doesn't deserve the amount of abuse it receives. For me though, the best level in the game is the first one - The prologue with Vader. After that the environments get a bit samey, and the novelty off the force powers wears off after a while.

Bought it, played and completed it in one day. Not playing it much now. Targeting system is flawed (as mentioned in many reviews along with the irritating 'anti-force fields') Graphics aren't amazing but are good. Amped-up Force powers are fun, as is the Euphoria tech, but the many similar Quick-time events really aren't very fun as you tend not to see most of the coolest moves 'Starkiller' can do.
Unless you are a Star Wars fanatic (and I like Star Wars fine - just not £40-for-this-game fine), I would recommend just renting this game.

I work video game retail and I tell customers to rent it first because it is one of those games you either love or you think eh, could be better.

I'll be honest: I liked the game up to a very particular part near the end. It has flaws, but it was fun. My opinion of the game was that I was going to eventually buy it once there were a few price drops.

However...Then I got to this particular part. I'll just tell you what it is because the scene was hyped up to high heaven in previews: The part where you must use the Force to pull a Star Destroyer from low orbit and crash it into the planet. Simply put, this was the most frustrating part I've encountered in a game in years. It is tedious, hard, and just plain annoying. They took what could have been an awesome sequence and screwed the pooch so hard that the pooch died. The on screen prompts are flawed; sometimes they'll give you the wrong instructions. Worse yet, you must take a break every 15 or so seconds to kill a wave of TIE Fighters. Your progress at pulling the Star Destroyer down isn't lost, but you must then take the time to turn it and get it into the right position again before pulling it further down. All in all, this sequence is like trying to pleasure a woman who has a severe case of frostbite on her ****.

I hated this part so much that it actually changed my opinion of the game. You heard me right. The game went from being something I enjoyed to being something I completely despise. I brought the game back to Blockbuster early and do not intend to play it ever again. I didn't even finish the game because I couldn't get past that part.

So I suppose that The Force Unleashed should get a medal or something. Never before has a single sequence completely, drastically altered my opinion of a game.

Fact: Game was supposed to have multi-player, it just never worked right. (360/PS3 version I mean).

I have a long blog post on this which I will summarize thusly: Best rental ever.

Some parts of this game are wonderful and represent the next logical step from acknowledged greats like God of War and Devil May Cry. Some parts are annoying, obviously rushed, and ruin the immersion (the Star Destroyer sequence and the second boss being prime examples).

I guess I don't understand. You're asking for peoples opinions because you don't trust what others are telling you? Isn't that contradictory?

It's pretty decent, nothing special though. It kept me busy for a couple of days.

Give it a rental, it's not worth $60.

Definitely a RENT FIRST!

You can get through it in a day, and replay it and finish that the next morning.

Though you fling people around with havok physics so what's not to like?

I actually liked the Star Destroyer part. It was frustrating, but the mentality afterward of "Holy crap, I just took down a Star Destroyer" was enjoyable.

I rented this, and it didn't seem to me worth $60. But its still fun.

I never really followed the Hype that surrounded this title and i bought it along with my Xbox around a week or two ago because honestly i just wanted an Xbox 360 and i'd be damned if i was only buying the Console and no game, saw there was an offer for the console and FU so i thought "Why not?"

Also the way my friends explained the game to me it sounded a lot more open-ended then it turned out to m=be.

Don't get me wrong, the game itself is good and it stands up well against previous Star Wars titles (if only in my opinion) But the repetative level design and objectives just got on my nerves very quickly and having my friends tell me "You get to pull a fucking STAR. DESTROYER. From out of the damn sky!" but when it arrived at that point it was exactly like others have described it.
It just wore off on me, i think that only thing that drove me to finish the game was the novelty.

The idea of eveything feeling some-what "He--ey! I think i've seen this before!" -ish

And yeah i played it more then twice for the different endings (not to mention the awesome Sith Stalker armour)

But after that i haven't seen fit to really touch it again, which is a shame as it's the only 360 game i have and i have no money after buying the console...
I find myself playing the original Fable waiting out the days until i have enough money for when Fable 2 finally arrives.

(I'm not saying Fable 2 will be better then Force Unleashed, i'm just making the point that i can't be arsed to play it even though it was supposed to keep me occupied for the next month or so.)

So yeah, Good game, just more disapointing then i originally hoped (and was told).
