Some of my favourite movies are from other countries, one I'd recommend would be, The City of Lost Children by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro. An absolute cinematic landmark and the last good film Jeunet ever made.

Battle Royale- My favorite of all time. Japanese splatter-action movie.
Anything Ghibli- Anime
[REC]- Spanish horror
Izo- Splatter/samurai movie
Yojimbo- Akira Kurosawa classic
Imprint- Fucked up film by the guy who made "Audition" and "Ichi the Killer"
Tokyo Gore Police- A Tokyo Shock* film
Machine Girl- Also by Tokyo Shock
Any of the other Tokyo Shock stuff too.
The [fucking] Host- Korean monster movie/dark comedy
The MST3K of "Santa Claus"- As TV's Frank puts it "It's a stupid Mexican kids movie!"
Delicatessen- Awesome French romantic comedy/slasher movie

*If you don't know, Tokyo Shock is a production company made up of Japanese splatter directors, alongside skilled gore effects artists.

The only foreign film I've really ever watch was 12, a Russian remake of 12 Angry Men, it's a bit slow paced but all the actors are great and it leaves you with a lot to think about.
You've missed out on a LOT.

I don't watch that many movies to begin. I don't know why I enjoy movies but I usually end up getting bored. Been changing that recently with me and my fiends watching random movies that catch our interest.

If you liked Amelie then you should also enjoy Delicatessen, it's directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro. It's a little post-apocalyptic which is always good. (I think I'll watch it now actually) I'd recommend the city of lost children by those two as well.

Angel A is a good film too by Luc Besson. It stars the guy who played the market boy in Amelie.

My favourite Guillermo del Toro film is his first one, Cronos. I'm not sure I'd call it a foreign film though as it's a mixture of English and Spanish, mainly Spanish though.

I object to this blatant america-centrism.
You're all foreigners to me, damnit all!

Now that's harsh. I agree with you on that Lost Children is a masterpiece; but the last good film Jeunet ever made?
Personally I've enjoyed all of his work since, even though Caro's unique input is sorely missed.
Jeunet has stayed true to his unabashedly saucy comedy throughout, and there is a surrealist streak to his direction which I absolutely adore.

Alien: Resurrection for example is, with the original being the obvious exception, the best film in the Alien-franchise thanks to the absurdist imagery.
He managed to infuse that tired concept with a joy and frisson which both Aliens and Alien³ sorely lacked.

Elite Squad (Brazil)
City of Men (Brazil)
City of God (Brazil)
Let the Right One in (Sweden)
Pan's Labyrinth (Spain)
Battle Royale (Japan)
The Host (Korea)

I'd highly recommend any of these movies, especially Elite Squad...

I'm Not Scared
Pelle the Conqueror
Du Er Ikke Alene
The Devil's Backbone
Princess Mononoke
City of God
[REC]
The Descent
Malena

I might think of more later.

Whatever you do, avoid Dead Snow. Seriously, the box art was probably the most costly part of it's production.

Well I'm South African, so pretty much every film I've ever watched is foreign. :p
If we're talking non-English then House of Flying Daggers was very good (except for the shitty ending), Memoirs of a Geisha was fantastic, Kung Fu Hustle was funny... I think that's it. Wow, that isn't many. I've seen more, but those are the ones which I liked.
