I object to this blatant america-centrism.
You're all foreigners to me, damnit all!

Some of my favourite movies are from other countries, one I'd recommend would be, The City of Lost Children by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro. An absolute cinematic landmark and the last good film Jeunet ever made.
Now that's harsh. I agree with you on that
Lost Children is a masterpiece; but the last good film Jeunet ever made?
Personally I've enjoyed all of his work since, even though Caro's unique input is sorely missed.
Jeunet has stayed true to his unabashedly saucy comedy throughout, and there is a surrealist streak to his direction which I absolutely adore.
Alien: Resurrection for example is, with the original being the obvious exception, the best film in the Alien-franchise thanks to the absurdist imagery.
He managed to infuse that tired concept with a joy and frisson which both Aliens and Alien³ sorely lacked.
